I caught this film on a pirate of BwT (which appears to be down???), because I refused to watch this in the theater and boy am I glad I did. The film is pure shyte and excessively long. The story sucked, the screenplay was bad, the music bland, and the performances weak all around. SRK got nothing new and was just bored throughout the movie. Ditto for Rani, she just didn't get anything new after having a great last 2 years. AB got something new to do but it was just too weird to be effective. Preity was just annoying, despite having a defendable character, she just came across as brash. Abhishek was the only one half decent, but his anger tantrums with Rani reminded me of Yuva. In terms of songs, Mitwa is the only good song, all others are a waste.

All up, I would give this 3/10. KHNH was much better than this as that was thoroughly entertaining. I think Nikhil Advani is probably a better director than KJ as you can see KJ copying Nikhil's ideas in the movie. KKHH for KJ was also better than this and so was K3G (although that's just because of the cast being more entertaining).

Wait for Don to see Shahrukh in a better film. I have a lot of faith in Farhan Akhtar and am keenly awaiting that film.

Actually, the film wouldn't be too bad had they portrayed Big AB, SRK & Rani as villains.

Sheesh...a bore-fest!

I am not stupified as to why Maya left Rishi for Dev, because, every perfect guy cannot be your true love! I am stupified as to why she married him in the first place - from the very first scene, Rani maintained an expression of boredom; she looked more like a lamb taken to slaughter than a bride about to embark on a journey of happiness and committment...I guess she was ready to cheat on Rishi the very first day! hehehe.......worsse, she doesn't pay heed to the 'angel's warnings in the form of SRK....why did she get married?

Plus, I never felt any passion between Maya and Dev either...they seemed like two individuals who were in discord with their spouses more than they were in accord with each other! lolzz...what if Maya was a hot shot entrepreneur? Would the Male Chauvinist Pig Dev fall in love with her then? I think not! lolzz He could not adjust to the fact that his wife was more illustrious, and, hence, gravitated to a woman who was just as whiny and unfulfilled....!

Anyways, the movie was certainly a notch above karan's pathetic KKHH....one of the main reasons KANK let me down was because SRK, and esp Rani, hardly show any zeal...they never raise above the scripts to deliver an enthusiastic performance....Rani either cries or screams...SRK is brilliant when he has to emote through his eyes (particularly noteworthy was the flower-crossing scene..heh..his happiness at seeing Maya, followed by his shock at noticing his wife beside her was portrayed very well!), but otherwise he is below par....he hams when he has to speak!

Extreme melodrama never suited Rani - I would love to see her in a light romance like Saathiya again! This is a role tailormade for someone like Kajol who knows how to make tears seem beautiful! Rani looks haggard!

I saw more chemistry between SRK and Rani in her cameo in K3G than in the entire KANK - clearly, this one required a legendary couple like SRK and Kajol! In fact, Rani looks better with Abhi! heeh

Preity is ok in a couple of scenes, but I don't understand that oohs-aahs about her either....the slap was executed fine, but she hardly had any scope!

AB was irritating...! Kiron looked nice and was spontaneous (for once, not OTT!)

BUt, the scene-stealer, the charmer was Abhishek....he simply elevates the movie to a watchable status...be it his light flirtatiousness or his emotional intensity, he gets every expression right, and pitches in a controlled performance...truly, he steals the show every time he is on screen!

Songs and choreography are horrible...surprisingly, considering Karan's forte is good music!

That said, some scenes do stand out: the dinner scene, the road scene with the two girls, Abhishek's outburst towards the end, Abhishek's dialogues when he meets with Rani after a while

Overall, 5/10..if Karan wanted to make a controvesial film, he has succeeded...if he wanted to make a good film, he hasn't passed the muster! watch it for AbhisheK!

KANK Overseas Box Office Collections have been sky diving day after day but because of the intial start, based on hype, made it surpass even Deepa Mehat's Water collections.

Also, KANK got substantial coverage on ET (Entertainment Tonite)/ ET- Canada last evening (Global TV, -- ??). I missed it, but I was told, it was substantial coverage. 5-7 min in a 30 min program, perhaps first for a Hindi film. Did anyone catch it or record it ?? (I tried to program record it in it's rerun late at nite, but this 30 min out of total 60 min, never aired.

I know I'm painfully behind the times, but I'm only just now watching this film. And BOY does it suck. I'm just an hour in and I don't know if I'm even going to finish it. I'm a big fan of SRK (and Karan Johar) but watching him scream at his son and spit at his wife and mother is not my idea of movie magic. And those were supposed to be the funny parts!

The music is pretty forgettable too.

I must agree! It is probably one of the worst movies I have seen - the only thing worth seeing was one of the songs 'Tumhe Dekho Na' which was filmed really well in the New England fall.

Well, I finished it. But only because I started playing solitaire over top of it on my laptop. Not a sign of excellence.

What rubbish. The only likable character was Kiron Kher and all she got to do was pat Amitabh's hand while he expired.

Please someone, offer a recommendation of a recent movie to take the unpleasant taste of this one out of my mouth!

If you are looking for a SRK movie then 'Chakde India' is worth checking out. However, just general and fairly light hearted movie worth seeing was Ta Ra Rum Pum. Slightly more serious (and sometimes cringe worthy - but with good songs) would be Fanaa - and also I quite enjoyed Gangster (not one for kids at all), Woh Lamhe and Metro (also not for kids). If you haven't seen 'Iqbal' yet - that would also be worth checking out. To be totally honest - there hasn't been a 'great' film released for a while. I've been going back and catching up on the oldies (1950's / 1960's) to take care of my Bollywood fix!

*minor spoilers*
Scenes where characters think a blast is someone’s farts, guy pissing on dude, guy watching dude take dump in toilet, an inappropriate wanker scene, is totally beyond the norms of what a good family show should be.
