we went to the suday 8:30 show and it was all sold out the movie sucked big time, but there was one thing that made it worth it, the night before was the himesh reshamya show and tonight they didnt have one there was these people with sunglasses and there were 4 seats left and we needed 3 so we asked them they said ya its ok take it ( it was reserved for alisha chinoy, himani, and abhijeet sawant) they said that the people they saved it for arnt comming so we sit down then they take off their glasses and i am sitting next to sangeeta gosh ( pammi from des mein nikla hoga chand, and was in rabba ishq na hove, and virasaat) and next to her uditia gowarikar, and next to her himesh reshamya, and next to him vineet ( sa re ga ma pa singer) and i was shocked i called my dad it bring the cam and autograph book, they said they will take pics with me after the movie when we are the only ones they were so nice they started talking to me and offering me popcorn and stuff, but their theater manners i was so surprised they didnt act civilized at all when dhoom 2, kabul express, don, etc... trailors were running they were screeaming and shouting and stuff and when they saw each persons intro same thing and they were clapping through out the movie etc.. people kept on telling them to shut up and they had to bring in a cinema worker to tell them to be quite, the thing i was most surprised was they brang tequilla in sangeeta purse and were drinking, they even offered it to me, i said i dont drink and they were trying to tell me it was the best thing in the world lol
well the pics are below

well by western standers people will think you are retarded ( no offence) i have never seen that happen in any movie theater i went to including indian ones, a movie is meant to be watched and you want to hear the dialogs and see the movie not having people dance right infront of you

Well, if we always went by "western standards", that would be a problem, wouldn't it izzy? Since when does that arbitrate what kind of behaviour is "good" or "bad"? Why can't art be reacted to in a multitude of different ways?

In India, the whistling/clapping/shouting is a convention of the movie-going experience. It's certainly different than the decorum expected in movie theatres in North America/Europe, but that doesn't make it any better in comparison.

this is turning into a debate lol
well to a guy who has been born and brought up in canada if i would go to india and go to see a movie and i see people doing this kinda stuff i would just walk out, they would just look like a bunch of weird people who are high or something to me, it doesnt make sense to that if they are clapping because they saw an actor face whats the use he is not there, plus if you go pay 8.55 to see a movie wouldnt you want to actully be able to watch and hear the dialogs without disturbances ( other then people walking through the ale and little kids crying) like the stars were cheering when some dialogs came, and i still cant forget how many times they swore just in the dhoom trailor alone, and how sangeeta gosh was going omg look udi look hrithik is soo hot F*** i so want him omg F***, well with all the old people there who looked like they might have done the clapping and stuff in theaters in india were also annoyed by their noise, everyone just wanted to watch the movie in peace
now i know why they take a long time to do a intro for the stars in the movie

I don't see why cultural differences can sometimes be so fucking hard for people to digest. I went to India and went to see a movie; yes, I set "up top." When the first song came on, I was startled to hear whistling and cheering from "somewhere down below." I got up to take a peek down, and was told by the people I'd gone with that that's just where the "riksha wale" sat, and that their behavior was perfectly normal; it's what they did. I listened, and I accepted it. This is just the way things are there. Also, movie tickets are not nearly so fucking expensice (read, "over-priced") in India as they are here. In New York City, we shell out, what, $10.75 for a fucking night out at the cinema? Take your wife and kid, buy a little food, and that "night out" costs you upward of $40.00. In India, a movie ticket costs about Rs. 50; about a dollar. It'll be more at "Bumbai multi-plexes," and less is smaller towns — and the "riksha-wale seating" (non-existent in the aforementioned "multi-plexes") will be even less. Not even trying to "directly convert," fifty rupees is affordable for many Indians; it's a price the "poor" can afford to pay frequently enough. So, no: we wouldn't go to a screening of The Da Vinci Code and start hollering at the end when they find Mary's statue, but we also shouldn't act quite so disbelieving upon hearing how "others" behave in their own culture.

calm down man dont get so upset
i just asked a question because i dont know how people down there watch a movie, i just heared from my friends that in india that entertainment is worth spending the $ on then food no matter how rich or poor you are, is that true or are they bs?

it was just my opinion, wouldnt you be kinda shocked to see people in your own ethnic culture act in a certain way that you found kind of odd where you live and never knew it was the norm there?

i talked to my friends ( who didnt go to a cinema in india before) and they wouldnt belive how people can act like that
and my friends who did said at first you would be like OMG but after a while you will get use to it,

they just couldnt belive that celebraties were doing that here, i think thats why i am also shocked because you would think they would be well behaved (in terms to where they are) but oh well it was kind of odd though because they didnt want to be recognized by a lot of people and get mobbed but they were the ones who were making themselves stand out lol
i think it was all thanks to the tequilla

Go to a movie in Times Square here in NYC on Fri. night, especially a genre film (horror, action, etc.) and you'll hear some pretty crazy yelling and cheering at the screen. I'm all for a good audience reaction, as long as it's appropriate to the movie (ex. maybe applause during a good villain death or a funny comment if the film is bad enough to warrant it). As long as it's not overdone, I'm usually OK with it.

screw you izzy :P I'm going to take some confetti to the premiere of Shiva in Hollywood :D

izzy, also note, you are Canadian. That is your ethnic group :P you are white washed :)

it's not just in India. Indians do the same shit in local theaters here, and I love it. I actually get dissapointed when they don't exhibit their natural ethnic behavior ;)

Did Ms. Gosh really say all those things?

speaking of white washed, Springer culture seems uncivilized by eastern standards. but I suppose the western culture is the defacto standard, and the rest of the world shall bow down

Quote:
it doesnt make sense to that if they are clapping because they saw an actor face whats the use he is not there

what's the use even if an actor is present?

What is uncivilized is the lack of tolerance for other cultures

omg!
i am not white wash, i dont go out and come late at night drunk as hell and do drugs and stuff, and i am not one of those kappa wanna bes and stuff and another reason i am not white wash i dont listen to white music or barely see any movies

and yes sangeeta gosh said all that stuff

i dont know about NY or anything but down here the only thing anyone does is lol during funny things and if its horror or something you might hear some gasps and screams and action you might her something like wow or cool, i dont mind that kinda stuff but its hard to describe how much noise they were making that people (not me) called the cinema workers to make them shut up
yuvan are u seriously gonna take confetti? that would actully be cool, are u planning to open it up in the cinema hall during the movie? now that is gonna be fun
just pray they dont think theres a bomb in there lol
and i am sorry if i offended anyone with the word "uncivilized" i am just asking a question and everyones attacking me i bet i could take sitting in a theater in india while people are doing this kinda stuff, i wish i took my cell phone so i could have took a video to show you how bad the tequilla got to them
