This is getting complicated! In addition to a DVD player and for the luxury of watching, lets say a better quality EROS crap ( if there will be such a thing), I have to now buy a VMD discs player. Now for Hollywood DVds a HD-DVD and Blu-ray Disc player. Ssssh, VMD disc player guys thats all we'll get from these Bollywood thieves!

one of them only plays half the movie, first half plays and as the layer end so does the movie by going to back to beginning
hmmm.....
indian dvd makers like eros, going to HD on 10 layer dvd
so the movie will play in HD, wow wonderful but
too we will only be watching 10% of the movie, b/c disc will go bad (rot)

Eros Group, which has a catalog of around 2600 Bollywood movies. There are planned to be 50 movies available on VMD by the end of 2006.

Get ready for the first 50 to 1!

History might repeat itself, Eros were early adopters of DVD too and some their earlier titles were some of the best transfers done by DEI (same can be said of Super Digital titles). The problem comes when the technology becomes cheap and the quality starts to suffer to save costs. I think early HD-DVDs might be some of the best too for Indian movies and then instead of improving they’ll go down hill as usual. We’re used to this backward mentality.
