Lord of the Rings: The fellowship of the Ring will come out on DVD on August 6th but a special extended edition will follow on November 12th adding more than 30 minutes to the already 3 hour movie. DVD extras will also come in stages, 2 hours of behind the scenes on the 2-dics august release and an additional 6 hours of behind the scenes on the november edition. The extended version will be more violent than the original theatrical version and be rated R!!!

These guys sure know how to make money by releasing 2 versions!!

out!!!!!!

The set releasing 12 Nov is 4 disc DVD set with the film spread across two discs with 3 commentaries - the rest is extras! Imagine when the whole trilogy is released on DVD - the whole set will end up as 12 DVDs! (or 15 DVDs as there’s a rumour of 5 DVD set too :nervous: )

Hopefully them blue-ray 100gb discs will be the saviour by then. The whole trilogy on one disc with hi-definition video and sound :baaa: (yeh still dreaming :oh: )

The 2 disc version will be released in separate widescreen and pan and scan versions. I'll bet that many are annoyed that it won't include a DTS track.

Although it wouild have been cool had they decided on both the extended version and theatrical release on the same set. This might not be the case. IT would have been cool though like the Terminator 2 Special Edition DVD.
