Thanks ali!! I appreciate!!

My point for this dvd by eros was that how bad looking even a prog encoded dvd could be

Eros has done this kinda karma with atleast Taal, Badshah and few more!! Hyper contrated, edged bharppor , low on detail prog transfer.

but they are prog 24fps, dont comb on motion scenes, and all these shots were grabbed in forceweave.

i am surprised that even with out looking at ali's 2 in one, most shots are comprable 8)

Rented EROS Sirf Tum. What arsh pointed out is only half the story. Here is the rest:

- DVD is kind of "Reverse Anamorohic". It's 25-33% vertically squished in a 4:3 frame.

- It's Progressive, 24 fps but it does give combing in lots of frames (less than 3 %; you have to look for them, otherwise in running film, you don't really notice it). There are lots of false flags or missed NTSC fields.

------------------------------------

-Despite these shortcomings, I like this PQ better than "present day most new Indian DVDs".

---------------------------------------

- I don't think, other EROS DVDs that were released Progressive around "Sirf Tum" release time (like Taal, Baadhah, Har Dil Jo Pyar Karega) suffer from this Reverse-Anamorphic and "some frames combing".

I picked up this DVD and a few other recent Shemaroo releases. Strangely, a few DVDs among this batch don't load up on my PC DVD, although they play fine on my main DVD player. PC-DVD drive doesn't recognize any disc in one drive, it coughs up the DVD out in the other PC-DVD drive, when I load these DVDs. (It's not a region compatibility problem).

I wonder why ??

In the past also I had some such DVDs (once in a while/ 200) but this time it's half of Shemaroo DVDs from this new batch ??

I tried these DVDs again on other PC-DVD systems. Always, it's the same situation. DVD drive is a lot more noisy (clicking or growling) than usual and vibrates excessively. It must be manufacturing problem (balancing/ warped disc). Home DVD players must be more robust that they can handle the un-balance ??

Anyway, it's the first time that I experienced such problem in 50% of the discs from this new batch.

chk the disc manufacturer listed on the backside of the cover.
newer batches of several dvds mfg in india by jet speed, sony dadc, t-series, moserbaer etc. seem to have compatibility probems with lots of dvd players / drives

Yes, Shemaroo Sirf Tum is manufactured by "Jet Speed".

It's either unbalancing/ warped disc or it's some starting code that player can't read but keeps on trying desperately causing all the noises and eventual failure ??

Even though Shemaroo Sirf Tum is very pleasing to eyes as compared to EROS version, in any motion scene, I prefer EROS encoding. As EROS enoding is Progressive, any freeze frame is still sharp, where as, Shemaroo disc is PAL to NTSC converted (field averaged) and hence motion sequence screen shots come out blurry.

(Of course in still scenes or scenes with minimal motion, Shemaroo Sirf Tum is miles ahead of EROS DVD).

Had Shemaro DVD stayed PAL, as it comes from PAL master, it would have been miles ahead of EROS. Would have been almost High Def in comparison to EROS DVD.
