I've just seen the film on cinema. I much prefer the Tamil version, which was more down to earth, and funny thanks to Kamal Hassan's screenplay.

The Hindi version lags on too much and the humor isn't as good as the original.

I recommend renting the Tamil DVD before you purchase the Hindi DVD. Quality is excellent (anamorphic, 24progressive) and it has DTS sound.

I hope Mahdevan picks better directors for future projects...he is one Indian actor that can go far...

I haven't seen the Tamil version, but from what I understand, much of the humour in it doesn't translate well to non-Tamil speakers. So although the Hindi version may be inferior, perhaps it will be more enjoyable to the majority of audiences.

Well I am not Tamil, and I found the humour came across to me fine. A good film will always transend language/speech.

yes, especially when these films have excellent ayngaran subtitles for us non-tamilians like "i like your nobility of not being a loosefoot".

That's piss poor work on Prasad's behalf. You can't blame the film (or the makers) for that.

Beside I'm sure peeps are smart enough to work out what the subtitle is trying to say....Even though this is a weak argument.

Anyway I'm digressing...even with bad subtitles...the Tamil film is better then the Hindi version...IMHO :!:

Sunny

All NI folks who saw the DVD were VERY happy with the movie. Since they didnt see the tamil version its hard to compare between them and usually tamil folks have bias towards tamil movie, but the rental for this movie is very good and since there is no big movie released this week the sales should do reasonably well.
