Did anyone see this film? I saw it on one of the Indian channels the other day. The opening scene of the film was quite simply SHOCKING -- How? -- well, the entire first 3 or 4 mintues of the film was pure (intentional or not) Wellesesque in motion. Low angel shots/heavy concentration on ceilings and extensive shots of multiple mirror images of one character. Above all, the art direction looked quite apt for every single shot.

You have to understand, at that time, I almost stop breathing, I kept thinking to myself, "what movie is this? It has such a brilliant opening!!". The credits hadn't been introduced yet, the film just began to roll without any credit sequence at all. About half an hour into the film, I realized that Manoj Kumar had written the script and unfortunately I just about missed the name of the cinematographer. But I wonder if Manoj had written the film's fantastic opening, I wonder if he had seen Citizen Kane which likely he borrowed from to inspire an opening sequence in his own film perhaps paying homage to Welles or just passing the style as his own? Even if it was the latter, atleast he acknowledged the mastery of Kane.

And O yeah, about 30 mintues into the film, I realized the film is nothing like it's opening sequence and is very much like every other hindi movie of it's era.

Bummer :x

I saw this film a long time ago ... I remember the opening sequence and at the time it reminded me of a Pakistani movie that I had seen previously (I can't remember the name of the movie - but I do remember that it was rather crap).

Aside from that I thought that there was nothing memorable about Yaadgaar :D aside from one of the song (I think towards the end of the movie) that was picturised on Nutan.
