Thank you Ali. Dispite some problems with the picture, it doesn't look half bad.

This DVD is far from stellar, but — for an Indian film that's more than ten years old, and wasn't a huge hit — I think it's the best we can expect. I own a VHS copy of the film, and it's not a tenth as good as this. I actually really liked this movie when I was younger, but (unfortunately and fortunately, I suppose) now see that it's not exactly one of Bachchan's "greats." That said, I still enjoy it.

It's basically a fantasy tale. There's magic and whatnot.

One piece of trivia I remember about this movie was it was Shashi Kapoor's baby - he produced and directed it. From what I read at the time he allegedly got the entire cast to work for free except for Sonam who demanded a fee!

It was a huge flop from what I remember reading which is the reason Shashi Kapoor vowed never to make a film again ..

I think it was an indo-russian collaboration. a Bunch of russian actors and technicians in the movie.... The movie was done by Bachchan as a favor..I remember when I first looked at the costume during the time the movie released, I thought it was a Shahenshah re-hash...but to me, Shahenshah is a much better movie...
