I can't tell the difference between the Eros and Shemaroo version - at least from the screen shots.. both look identical to me.

There is a difference! Atleast in the shots with Prithviraj, first shot hints of a bemused and daring look, the second smirking at arsh trick question! :P

It's beyond my eye/ PC-display resolution capability.

But, one thing for sure, EROS is Film to PAL to NTSC and runs 4% faster than Shemaroo's Film to NTSC DVD.

Arsh, if you gave us a sequence of 5 consequitive shots from a moving sequence, I sure and many others will be able to identify the DVD. That's the difference between Film to PAL to NTSC converted Field Averaged EROS and Shemaroo Film to NTSC DVD. This also will show the differences between lemon and orange.

But, there sure is a difference as JB pointed out seriously or jokingly. The two shots are from different frames.

Even frames are different, that is not issue here! yet you can see, if you want to!

I can see that JB can see, and few more can see too, even if it is crooked

I do not think, there I see noo point in continuing this excercize of trying to show advantage of PP over Field average!!
You have it!! Me too! Thats really matters! 8) :P

Rana!! I find/Prefer Shemaroo dvd over Eros for whatever reason for my own sake and on my system! and I am happy that I got it!!

I am not going to sweat here any more as it wont make any difference!! I am not shemaroo distributor etc!

If some one cares they can get it and compare for themselves!

Shemaroo DVD is NTSC and is Pseudo-Progressive. DVD cover states, "For distribution in India Nepal and Bhutan only"
(But, usual chroma lagging behind luminance problem; hence, pixel comparing routines may or may not detect the 2-3 pull down)

Bit rate is 3.5-5 mbps. Audio is DD 5.1 @ 384 kbps

Shemaroo MEA color DVD has cool packaging and my disc is Super Cool.
FREEZES

Sure, cover says, for sale only in India Bhutan and Nepal. I picked it up in Toronto, paid big bucks, it's supposed to be original and looks original. Disc media is SILVER (may be 5% goldish).

From what I have heard there is nothing like original dvds in Toronto.

From where I bought it, is my trusted store (I am sure to get a replacement or credit) and he does tell me if it's a pirate. The price I paid for it, it must be 100% genuine direct import from India. If go by the looks of the packaging, it still should be 99.9% genuine original from Shemaroo India.

BTW, as much it did play, PQ is better than EROS. Shemaroo is Pseudo-Progressive and EROS is Field Averaged.

Got it replaced from a brand new immaculate, sealed box.

I have problems with this one too, but I did succeed playing it thru once, sufficient to make an exact code back up. (No problems playing my back-up copy).

This brand new disc has loading problems in my 2 of 4 DVD/ PC-DVD players. Once loaded, it plays OK till last 10 min of the movie. At least it plays OK for 174 of the 184 min.

Watched a few minutes of the Shemaroo version. It was crap. I need to see the whole thing. But these few minutes showed a very fuzzy picture with noise reduction artifacts.

I don't like the coloured version of Mughal-e-Azam. It almost looks animated, so fake. I'm glad with my original black-and-white version by Shemaroo.

I too had to retrn my shemaroo colored mughal e azam dvd because it would freeze. I believe that was because like several eros om shanti om dvds, this too was replicated by jet speed india -- perhaps the worst dvd replication center in the country.

Does you Shemaroo DVD have a photo of Madhubala on the DVD artwork ?? IMO a pic of Madhu and Dilip together would've been better. The Eros packing is good. I don't know about the DVD quality.

Yes, that's the one.

A few Yrs back Shemaroo had a huge defective discs problem and merchants, as well as, consumers stopped buying Shemaroo DVDs. Lately, Shemaroo DVDs have been OK.
