same question as arsh: is there a DTS track?
if yes, they should've opted out of the DTS track and kept to DD5.1 only! iDream's Sri Anjaneyam is drool worthy. will post screenshots possibly later this evening!!

no, i haven't seen the telugu version, but i'm 98% sure telugu dvd "Bharatheeyudu" is crap. released by KAD(?)

however, I AM comparing Ayngaran's "progressive" vs. iDream's "progressive" discs. Sri Anjaneyam to be exact. EXCELLENT DD5.1 & reference quality video on par with hollywood titles from what I remember!! infact, better than a lot of hollywood titles! will post shots later tonight of Sri Anjaneyam

I agree!! only Kits and Co are doing the right job for their dvds! But unfortunately this is only the best possibility for INDIAN! :( :?:

hahahah, shame. i love this movie. well, at least I can enjoy that beautiful track sung by yesudas in DTS!!

it would've been noticably better had they opted out of DTS track!!

what's your opinion on the DVD Stephen?

BTW, thanks for the shots!

You're welcome :)

As Arsh said, this is the best option on DVD for Indian even though it has its flaws. The picture is quite soft and with some edge enhancement noticable. I think the framing could've been better too since the old Ayngaran DVD shows more information at the bottom. Overall though, the new disc is still pleasing - colours, contrast and brightness levels are all top-notch and both the 5.1 and DTS tracks are awesome.

Something that also might be worth mentioning is that the subtitles have been redone for the new DVD - the subtitles on the original release had a problem where they occasionally ran off the screen which has been fixed here - although sadly the new translation is even more dodgy than on the first version.

The cover I have is exactly same. Let me check out the DVD tomorrow. We had this dVD for over few months now, but never looked in detail. Also the cover doesnt show DTS / progressive DVD. Poor (no) marketting.

Stephen, you also mentioned that the old version and new progressive version, both have the same cover. Competent Ayngran distributor in Toronto has no clue which version he has got. He has no idea how old his stock is?? Then how can we distinguish between the old version and new progressive version??

Stephen or any one, please help. I'm here in Toronto till Tomorrow only.

Thanks.

Although the covers are both the same, I believe the actual discs themselves are different - the new progressive DVD has the DTS logo on it. Here's a scan of the new disc picture...

Hope that helps. :)

Rana, please make a note!! I think you have to open and check, by playing dvd, confirming DTS in audio setting 8)
