Meera to play 'Umrao Jaan'

Close on the heels of J P Dutta announcing 'Umrao Jaan' with Priyanka Chopra, Afzal Ahmed has announced another 'Umrao Jaan' with Pakistani actress Meera in the lead. Buzz is, Afzal had approached Priyanka Chopra with the same role and Chopra sat on the script for a long time without telling him whether she was doing or not.

However Afzal's script will focus more on Umrao Jaan's daughter than Umrao Jaan herself.

I don't remember reading anything about Umrao Jaan's daughter in the novel???! This is pretty ridiculous.
