Without a doubt my all time favorite ‘Diabolique’- French version is extremely atmospheric, bizarre and eerie, leaves a lot to the imagination!
agree rita, definitely a classic. and though non horror, clouzot’s ‘wages of fear’ is also one of my all time favs

I just saw Ichi The Killer this past week on HBO, it's very much like a Tarantino film; violence is exaggerated(evidently more gruesome in Miike's film) and with a little less show for cinematic chic.
ya ichi was a silly film.. despite the good performance by asano. most of miike’s popular films are overrated imo - ichi, audition, doa trilogy. though some of his less popular films are really good
as for horror films, I am not a big horror fan myself but my all time favs are probably texas chainsaw and exorcist
and am surprised to see that no one has yet mentioned "the master of the macabre" himseslf - de palma’s ‘sisters’, ‘carrie’, ‘the fury’, ‘dressed to kill’ and ‘raising cain’…are all terrific horror films
as for bw films in the genre, I enjoyed ramu’s ‘kaun’ and ‘vaastu shastra’. though his ‘bhoot’ was terrible
