Hi,
Has Ayngaran made any technical progress since Alai Payuthey
or is that how their DVDs still look? AP has some bad
DNR problems and compression is bad as well at times.
cheers

Ayngaran compression is apprent in places but it is not as bad as it was on AP. DNR problems are seen on nearly all DVD's out there and I doubt it will ever be fixed :(

Last DVD I got from Ayngaran was Uyire and that had very similar transfer to AP. Both suffer from noise reduction problems but also both were transfered from non-film mode – i.e. interlaced source instead of progressive. This I think is a contributing factor to the lack of sharpness on Ayngaran DVDs coupled with the noise reduction.
