I am a kamal fan, but when it comes to business, Rajini is THE super star. We sold more Chandramukhi CD than Boys during the few days (Boys is ever selling, just like Lesa Lesa, Minnale, Kakka Kakka. Rajini CDs sell during hte first week and after that quite. Hats of to Rajini for holding majority of the loyan fans still on his side.)

I hope we will do the same on DVD as well.

Hopefully Chandramukhi will be a good film. I have not seen the Kannada or Malayalam versions of it, but I may check it out on DVD if the opinions are good. I do like a silly Rajni movie at times but he can't do the same thing forever.

BTW, why did VS get Asha Bhosle to sing? Couldn't he have gotten Janaki or someone?

Asha apparently sang the first song for first Sivaji productions 25 years back and they wanted honor her again. It is not VS decision, but more of Ramkumar/Prabhu decision. The usual... traditional...formalities.... sentimental.. BS.

This is the best song among all the songs anyway (the other best is the thathimthom song, but the credit for this goes to IR because it looks lot like Karagattakaran song).

I do hope that the movie will be a good enteretainer, because Baba was a disaster for Rajini and it spoiled his political carrier. The scary thing about this movie is that P Vasu totally disappeared from Tamil and suddenly coming back where the industry has totall changed, with more technical advancement (is it a word! but you got what I am trynig to say right?) and closer to real life kind of stories (Kadhal, 7G, Azhagiya Theeyae). If the movie didnt run well, one should blame Vasu only. If the movie runs well, ofcourse the credit goes to Super Star.

I don’t know how he can "undo" himself, there is no way he is going to do a character role, at least my 'cinematic spidey' senses tell me NO !. Good or bad, I think he is more than an "actor" now.

BTW - Thanks DU; Mullum Malarum was FAN-TASTIC, becoming a Mahendran fan, can I hope to see a DVD release of Udthiryi Pukkal soon :) .

Dont know about udthiri pookkal. I saw 6 lirunthu 60 varai and I cant believe Rajini has this much potential. In many scenes I dont feel like he is acting at all. So natural. I am glad to see these.

Manichitrathazhu was a great movie...it still is! Gr8 acting by shobana, and good light hearted stuff from mohanlal. This movie still lives in my heart. So I am defenitely not gonna watch Chandramukhi. I hate watching remakes.

I think the album is worth downlaoding from some mp3 sites...tons of them for tamil songs.

But i wont buy it unless i like it more in later listens.

It sounds nice to me overall.

Vidyasagar is great when he is great. Some of his malayalam songs are so excellent. In tamil he makes these crappy kuthu songs..ugh.

Btw, did you guys listen to mayavi. its good too.

And Kadhal is a really excellent album.

If Mayavi is good, RAM is excellent. Watch out YSR. Have a feeling he is going to be the next IR.

I am eagerly waiting for ME and Thiruvasagam at this point.

RAAM is really excellent work!

All the songs are so melodious and the orchestration is good.

Yeah he is defenitely going to be the next IR....the same type of melodies. May be his dad gives him some of his tunes.

Good to have some one fill up the void of ARR not giving any tamil albums.

Can't wait for arr's 2005 tamil works!

Now I am getting obsessed with this! - I was listening to the soundtrack when it hit me that this is the first time in a looong time that his movie is not named after him. I mean even Thalapathi (The General) really meant Rajinikant, thought this was interesting bit of trivia !

He's probably not going to turn into a great actor all of a sudden, but he can at least do some branching out. Or retire gracefully. It was already kind of creepy when he was dancing around with Meena, with whom he acted when she was a child actor!

Let me concur - Now I think this is good music too (but forgettable stuff). The ‘Raa Raa’ song is "haunting" indeed; Wish I could see the original version before I see this one.
