I know Ritwik Ghatak was an admirer of Eisenstein, but what other directors were influenced by him? Were there ever any Odessa Steps homages in Indian films?

Sorry for the delay ( I was stuck in rural South Dakota for a week with no internet ! ).

From what I remember from my reading, most of the old timers were "influenced" by this movie and Eisenstein in particular. Esp. People from Bengal and Kerla (given their political inclinations as Marxist) . Here is a tiny list

- Ritwik Ghatak, the obvious one - infact according to satyajit ray this is the only film that has ever influenced him .
- Mirnal Sen
- Adoor Gopalakrishanan

and if I remember right even Shantaram.
