I agree 100%. It's one of the worst YR dvd in recent memories. And i confirm that the aspect ratio is messed up too. On my widescrenn lcd tv the picture is streched. It's amazing how poeple pay for a dvd of this bad quality. I just rented it and was ging to buy it if the quality was good. It is not even worth burning, the picture quality is so bad. The average Bitrate is around 4. In some places it barely reaches Biterate of 5. Bitrate of less than 5 is just horroble. I'm not even going to waste a couple of blank dvd on it. I used to buy alot of those good dvd's from DEI and BEI and some Super Digital dvds from earlier times. But not anymore. Acually, the latest Eros dvd Kisna, dvd and picture quality was a little better than Veer-Zaara dvd from YR. But again I shouldn't be surprised by these people who make dvd, they don't give a damn about picture quality or other things like, just the money. And since they will make lote of money from a dvd like this, why should they waste their time to improve their dvd quality as long as people are buying them anyway.

Yashraj just went namard with Veer Zara DVD. I curse him that he will not be able to make anymore bad DVD's in the future. Yashraj is mahachor and I would suggest not to buy his DVD's. Support piracy until the hindi dvd companies give us a quality dvd's.

This is exactly what some genuine DVD companies are doing anyway. Releasing a cheaper version of their own superior earlier release DVD. Example: Video Sound's Jaanam Samjha Karo. Orig version @ 6 to 9 mbps on a dual layer and the newer release @ 2 to 3 mbps on single layer.
There are lots of other instances.

I hope they release a better version later. I'm not too optomistic, though.
I just saw the dvd Chahat Ek Nasha from Video sound, it's worst than a VHS copy. And where did this ugly dude come from in the movie. It's unbelivable.

If you don't like what Yash Raj has done with Veer Zaara on DVD then just rent the movie!! Honestly I've haven't bought an Indian DVD in the USA in 3 years just been renting.

The only DVDs I got have all come from India by either Sony Entertainment India, or Shemaroo. The Sony Entertainment Yash Raj deal for the India market ended now that Yash Raj authors their own DVDs.

I got a chance to watch the SE versions of K3G and KKHH...and unlike their progressive versions (authored by Super Digital )..they were very much interlaced...field averaged or whatever you choose to call them... i.e., Pal to NTSC conversion

Your welcome!!

Almost all Indian DVDs are only worth $5 dollars or less so that why rent (ZDAG.com). Not going to spend $17.99 on a DVD unless it is done right like K3G by Super Digital and others.

I would suggest all zulmi's to boycott so called original dvd's and encourage others not to buy indian dvd's as they are of cheap quality and the indian dvd manufacturers are full of greed either it's EROS, YASHRAJ, VENUS OR VIDEO SOUND. Get these companies out of business and make them realize that people don't care for their cheap products.

I cannot believe that after making 42+ crores in India and more all over the world, they would come out with this junk. The aspect ratio is royally messed up as depending upon the location of the actor on the screen, they look streched. I totally encourage piracy for Indian movies.

I am really piss*ed

In general, AR is OK.
You mentioned AR different in different part of the screen??
It's not different AR, it's distorted picture. But it was the same in the theatrical showing as well. It's the beauty  of wide angle lens and then screening it without correction??

Can some one shed more light on this??

To me, it looks like some scenes are OK and some are distorted on the sides of the pic area because of the use of wide angle lens photography. I'm sure it can be corrected when screening in the theatre, provided they have the custom made correcting lens. But, then the other scenes that are OK will be distorted. Theatres can't keep on changing lenses every few seconds.
May be, this problem doesn't exist if projected on curved wide screen??
