Its going to be interesting how all April release are going to perform, specially since we have movies coming out from Rajini, Kamal, Vijay, Shankar-Vikram, Surya, Ajith, Balumahendra (with Dhanush)... I am sure Mumbai Xpress, like any other Kamal movie will be a good one compared to the rest, but at the box office, Rajini movie will perform better...

From what I heard, music is going to be different (you can see that in the promo..) and Illayaraja recorded the sound track in NY Sony recording for the first time in a movie (he recorded his symphony here) and he was amazed with the clarity of the recordings. I am looking for the audio release.

Meanwhile, Shankar's Anniyan Audio launch is by Mid Feb (postponed from end Jan)... Hopefully this will be a good one after Boys..

Why does IR have to go to NY to get good quality recording? Surely he has built his own world-class studio like ARR has.

Maybe he is doing what A.R Rehman did with Bombay Dreams, working on an international assignment onsite and home assignments offsite.

IR is doing a Thiruvasakam Symphony in NY

More than Mumbai Express I am looking forward to this one, they are already accepting pre-order of the CD

Maybe my friend at dvdunlimited can order in bulk and make it little bit cheaper for all us to enjoy :)

Raja Rocks, Even if its a Symphony !

What is in the special edition that they are charging $100 for it?

I listened to some of IR's How to Name it and Nothing But Wind but found them a bit dense for my tastes. Maybe if I knew more about classical music.

If i find more info i will post it here.

I don’t know the intricacies of music but still can appreciate good music and trust me these two albums need multiple listening, keep at it and you will see it grows on you. Even after 2 years I still listen to them on a regular basis and enjoy every bit of it.

I think this is where IR made a mistake and end up building a very expensive recording studio and finally end up loosing a lot due to TAX or land issue. He still have it,but it is not upto date as ARRs because he is not a techie! by himself. I hope Yuvan atleast will go in the right direction...

dvdisoil

Yes, dont rush and buy the CD now. We are working with various channels to make the CD available in USA. I hope the CD will be priced between around $15.

If you really want a autograph of Raja... ask some of NJ friends. He stops in at Swagath restaurant when ever he visit NJ. I met him once and got his autograph.. We also presented a Mesmerizing IR DVD to him. Hopefully he didnt throgh it somewhere (sad thing is when we met IR, Ayngaran never released any IR DVD and we had to give Pyramid version!)

Well it is a Rajni film.

Poor Kamal, somebody is at it again
IndiaGlitz
Thursday, January 20, 2005

Kamal has no escape from it, even though he is mostly blameless.

Problems continue to dog his films even though he keeps quiet and minds his business.

Yesterday, Thol Thirumavalavan, the DPI general secretary, has sounded a warning to actor Kamal Haasan and director S J Suryah for naming their films in English (Mumbai Express and BF respectively).

Warning them to change their titles, Thirumavalavan said, "if these titles are not changed, we would prevent them from shooting the movie".

Kamal has made it clear several times over that there was nothing English about his film's title, it is just that he was using the word 'Express' as it has wide currency in Tamil itself.

But when some politicos are out to get some cheap publicity, he cannot do anything.

So it looks like Illayaraja's Thiruvasagam Symphony is going to be released on Apr 14th. This day is shaping up to be a jolly good time to be in Chennai - which is what I will be doing :) .

Does anyone (dvdunlimited ?) know if there is an earlier release date for US ?

No. I am dying to get hold of the CD before April 14th but nothing looks positive. I will update you if I hear anything from our distributors or a friend with whom IR stays when he makes trips to NJ.

BTW this friend told me that "i cant believe this man has this much talent and the music is just amazing, but not sure if it will have a reach since it is in tamil". In addition they left a clear message to IR that he has to
a. Work with media to promote - which he is doing now
b. focus more on Hindi movies - Which he is planning now, ME will be the first of his serious effort to Bollywood

Hopefully we will have few good tunes from maestro, atleast in Hindi (in Tamil the wordings are so worst that I stoped listening to tamil music, except the recent manmadhan, Kadhal and Karagattakari)
