LOS ANGELES (Zap2it.com) - Michael Douglas has plans to return to his romantic adventure comedy roots.

The 60-year-old Oscar winner has signed on to produce and star in "Racing the Monsoon," a sequel to his hit '80s films "Romancing the Stone" and "Jewel of the Nile," reports Reuters.

"Stone" and "Nile" both revolved around soldier of fortune Jack Colton (Douglas) and romance writer Joan Wilder (Kathleen Turner) getting caught in the middle of ruthless groups of treasure hunters. "Monsoon" continues the precious gems theme, centering on a diamond robbery.

Instead of Turner, "Bride and Prejudice" star Aishwarya Rai will likely play the female lead. At 31, she's only four years younger than Douglas' wife Catherine Zeta-Jones. Most of the cast will feature Indian actors.

"Daddy Day Care" director Steven Carr will begin shooting by the end of 2005.

Douglas has won two Oscars, one for best picture for 1975's "One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest" and the best actor award for 1987's "Wall Street." His recent films include "It Runs in the Family" and "The In-Laws
