I have seen the Ashoka DVD and was very pleased with the sound and picture quality. The Story was good and the acting great by all.

I think this guy (Rakesh Budhu) has a problem knowing what is good and what is bad. In UK the film was a hit and I have no one coming out of the cinema and saying this film is a flop.

I would reccomend this DVD to everyone. Its one for the collection.

Just to correct BUDHU, jo BUDHU hi rahega! ASOKA won best cinematography at FF for my likening!!
I agree, If u would take all Anu,s albums from 2001, from MKKH to ASOKA, ASOKA was the best! but HE hets NOMINATED for MKKH, not for any thing else! WHAT a PITTY!
POLITICS!! I think for SRK to be nominated as BEST ACTOR< I'll edge for ASOKA over KKKG, but YRF takes the PRECEDENCE!! POLITICS again!

and if i am not wrong pls. somebody correct me here! Kariena Kapoor was nominated as BEST ACTRESS(my foot) for ASOKA too!!! HHOOOOO< HOOOOO:stupid: :devil: :vangry:

Yeah, both these articles are from the same Rakesh Budhu guy.
The comments that really get me in the Asoka DVD article:

1. A transparent disc that perhaps a high-end DVD player can read better.:rolleyes:
2. Indian DVDs supercede most Hollywood DVDs in terms of extra features.???
3. Kasoor, Albela, and Hum Ho Gaye Aapke had 2 disc specials with EXCELLENT picture quality.:baaa: :stupid:

ASOKA is my favourite DVD. Presently available First Look's Region 1 DVD is a copy of PAL DVD and perhaps is not a genuine DVD. I will wait for the official release. If that too is copied from PAL DVD, then I will go for the Region 2 Metrodome DVD even if it means buying extra hardware.

That is pure and total BS. Come on, with Hindi movies, the most we get on dvds are stuff like Mohabbatein and DDLJ, and that too comes very rarely (and with poor video quality).

American movies standardly come with much more extra features, including deleted scenes, theatrical trailors, subtitles in various languages, audio in different languages. Then, look at the DVDs for films like Gladiator, Se7en (Most amazing dvd ever), Fight Club, T2 (special edition). Come on, Indian dvds can't match up to this.

April 23rd. It's interesting as only the special Indian DVD stores are still selling that FLP Asoka DVD, even DEI site recently selling it. Most other R1 retailers have it still on pre-order.

After all the confusion regarding FLP Asoka - here's more! According to FLP website (Home Entertainment section), the DVD is 'available From First Look Home Entertainment' on April 2nd 2002 - same cover as other USA release which looks like was from FLP anyhow;

..more on their site;

can someone give me an estimate on how much it will cost to get my dvd player modified to play disks from all regions?

will r2 disks play as well on my dvd player as someone with a genuine r2 dvd player? will there be some problems because of the different formats (PAL and NTSC)?
