Recently in my local store I saw a 2 in 1 DVD (of Ayngaran) which had both Samy and another movie Thithikuthe. It costs $ 10. Is this DVD authentic? I thought Samy was supposed to be released by Tamilini.

Is Saamy worth buying? Is it as good as Dhool? How is thithikuthe?

I know of no ORGINAL 2in1 tamil dvd of any title frrom any company. all such titles are pirated. You are correct, the orginal SAAMY DVD in US has been released by TAMILINI .

As for the Movie..., it is a totally commercial movie . If u liked DHOOL u will def like this also. Pirated or not this movie is def worth a spin .

my two cents :)

I know Saamy is released by Tamilini and Thithikuthe by Ayngaran. So they shouldn't be in the same package. I think they are pirates.

All 2in1 Tamil DVD’s are pirate. I was speaking to Tamilni and they were telling me that the pirates in Far Eastern countries (Indonesia and Malaysia) actually use the capital from DVD piracy, drugs and porn to fund terrorist activities in the Middle East. I don’t know if this is true but it makes you think where does the money of full on piracy go?

As for Saamy, the film is good in places. Has a great cast, wonderful songs, and decent technical values. But the latter half of the film suffers a little bit from its silly male chauvinist dialogues, and the climax was not as satisfying. It has the look and feel of a Telugu film rather then a Tamil film. Vivek has the Brahmin priest is the best thing in the film...Oh and do check out Trisha in the songs...I personally think she is one of the best looking actresses in Eastern Cinema - She should come into Bollywood…hell even Hollywood!!!

Dhool is a better film as its full on masala and everything works, especially the evil female villain...I didn't see that one coming!!!
