Unfortunately, the fact is that most Indian DVD viewers consider even the crap DVDs to be excellent as they are used to watching 10th generation VHS copies on their old TVs. They don't know what a DVD and a matching present displays are capable of. They are content with the DVDs that play.
A friend of mine was boasting of his new collection that he started last week picking up 25 2in1 DVDs for $ 100 (Cdn). According to him, they were excellent quality. (BTW, $ 2 per movie is less than the rental cost, but for him, it's the right price for Collector DVDs)

Sadly, the average indian movie watcher wants to watch the movie in the quickest and cheapest way possible. Quality is not important, price and accesiblity are!!
When i go rent indian dvds, the majority of the people are not renting dvds they are renting VHS copies of the DVD cuz it's CHEAPER!!!
Until the mentality of the indian movie watcher changes, the chances of indian DVD quality improving is bleak!!!!!!!!
