yeah man spot on 3 deewarien was an excellent film but somehow the audiences craze for mushy love stories packaged in a new bottle wins over anything done artistically and differently as was the case with 3 deewarien...taking nothing away from the performances of the artists in 3 deewarien do u think the film would have fared better with say SRK.HR & SK in the lead roles

I want Lakshya to beat MHN. I can't stand these SRK drool fest movies. But people will go expecting another DCH and will be disappointed. Farhan Akhtar is more of a mature film maker than many people give him credit for.

You are confusing two different things. I like Hrithik more than SRK anyday, but I am practical enough to see that Lakshya probably will not beat Main Hoon Naa. For one thing it doesnt look like a masala film and secondly SRK has more fans than Hrithik (Outside of India its not even close).

Now if the question was Do you want Lakshya to beat Main Hoon Naa, my vote would have been different

Haven't read thru all the posts in this thread yet but I just wanted to say that I love DCH and think Farhan is such a great writer, the way he created those 3 characters was wonderful and they were all 3-dimensional, not stupid "hero who can beat up 100 men" stereotypes. It's so rare to find character-study, realistic (more or less) relationship kind of stories in Hindi cinema, and Farhan's really good at capturing "our generation"'s characteristics and attitudes toward life in a moving way (or my generation, anyway... dunno how old all you guys are ).

but Lakshya is gonna be interesting cuz it's such a different film. So more than anythin I'm waitin to see how Farhan will make transition from a "comedy-romance" to a war film. If he does it and does it well, then I think we'll all admire him even more. We need versatile directors like that, cuz usually Indian audiences are swimmin in too much masala, and BAD masala at that. lol

Hmm... I agree Shahrukh has been quite repitative lately, but I still find him a brilliant actor. And he is, just watch the movies he used to make in his early days, he LIVED those roles. So it's not his acting skills that fail, but the roles he chooses. I hope SWADES will be different (although he looks exactly the same as always) because one cannot expect much from a Yash Chopra movie anymore!

I totally agree with u, anwar miyan!! I dont think MHN was a brilliant film, but just dat formula, likever clicked with masses!

DCH on the other hand, was some thing freshly approached and well directed/well acted too!!

Once U beome famous as a director for a film, then u r judged based on that!! So, with DCH, it will be HARD for FARHAN , to not to be expected at that level or better! imho.

Secondally, Since DCH, S.E.L had not been totally able to get DCH out of their system, till Karan made them do K3G/KKHH style KHNH!

So wait and see!! SRK has come to creativity STALE! level..when ever he tried to be different, he BIT dust! LOSS MONEY! So, I think, he has learnt his way, Who cares about creativity, SPEND a lot to GIVE CHEEZY/SUCKY FLICKS , esp that please OVERSEAS CONFUSED DESIS! and there u HAVE HEFTY PROFIT on the table!!

Ofcourse Lakshya won't beat Main Hoon Na....Box-office wise but in quality it just might.

I'm sure that Lakshya will be a great film....Farhan's first film was different, and fresh...I'm tired of all the same boring stuff...DCH was a relief...I'm sure Lakshya will live up to the expectations.
