"Completely Flat
CHARAS
Director: Tigmannshu Dhulia
Cast: Uday Chopra, Irrfan Khan, Namrata Shirodkar, Jimmy Shergill
Some movies make you want to put a bullet through your head. Charas is one of them. A pretentious mess, it begins with Ladakh, stops by England, takes in a bit of the Italian Mafia and even makes it to Afghanistan. Along the way, we-I use that term loosely as there were precisely 10 people in the theatre-are forced to watch Uday Chopra playing last action hero, Namrata Shirodkar trying very hard to look sexy and Jimmy Shergill looking as he always does: bovine. As for Irrfan Khan, the man everybody has anointed the Next Big Thing, one more twitch, jerk or mumble, and we will have to get him checked for Parkinson's.
Director Tigmannshu Dhulia's debut, Haasil, was fresh, searing and quite stylised. Everything Charas is not. If this is what hype does to talented people, we prefer films by donkeys."
I especially like the last line
