Mid-Week Report

Bardaasht: Not so encouraging collections

'Bardaasht' seems like a loser, as collections are less than 50% over the first 5 days.

'Shaadi Ka Laddoo' collection is less than 20% and it is a flop.

But there does seem to be good news. 'Main Hoon Na' has had great advance bookings. The first week's records are expected to be set in cities like Mumbai, Chandigarh, Lucknow and Jodhpur. The film has been sold for a ratio of 4 crore per major territory, so as with all highly priced films the acid test starts in the second week.

A surprise for the trade is a small Punjabi film named 'Asa Nu Maan Watna Da', which received a record price in Canada. The film is slated for an early May release and shockingly is expected to do better than 'Main Hoon Na' in Canada.

This mid-week box office report, published above, is a follow up to the box-office top ten published last Saturday. Click here to check out which movie topped the 'Top 10 Chart' for the week ending April 24th.

It may be surprise to Indians in India, but is no surprise in North America. This Film is from Jee Ayan Nu team after all. Plus, $ 1 is equal to Rs 50 aprox. Remember Hawaayein for which Indianboxoffice repoerted it's first week collections as mind boggling. Never heard of in Indian Trade.

(BTW, if this film has a 'Made In Canada' tag as per Canadian rules, it gets preferrential treatment from Main Stream Theatres)

BTW, Aasan Nu Maan Watnan Da is screening in a small town like Ottawa as well and is expected to do well.

Bardaasht has been declared a flop, but it's a good film. Let's see if it can hang on to a few theatres after the first week and pick up by word of mouth publicity??

It's priced like KISMAT but didn't take as good an initial.

Fist two day collections were around 50% and so are they after 5 days. It signals no drop in collections after the weekend and hece the film may sustain a slow but steady run. Let's see.

Yes, indeed, all reviewers CALLED it BETTER BOBY DEOL film, and ALL PUNDITS declared it FLOP at the same time!

IMHO, MUSIC was another thing, BARDASHT music imho, was not as GOOD as HUMRAAZ etc.

ANMWD, music is EXTREMELY GOOD! imho
