Dear all,

I have been trying to search for the threads posted a while back on the platinum versions of DIL SE and PARDES. I ordered both DVD's from http://www.cdstore.com.pk, and as per what I had read on zulm, I got the replica's of the DEI-EROS version. Of course, the art cover and art on the DVD itself suck.
My question, is that the menu on the DIL SE dvd, is stationary, which is different from what i saw on the zulm preview. The movie itself starts from the middle of the credits, and I guess like the first version has wear and tear in the print. The quality though, is top notch. How can u tell if the version is PLATINUM since its a replica.

I tried doing a search and couldn't find that thread for the Platinum versions. Can anyone help!!! Also how can you tell if the PARDES version is PLATINUM OR NOT, does it have different menus than the DEI-EROS version. The DVD says 4 channel, put POWER DVD 5.0 said 5.1, and it sound 5.1. Could it be platinum. ARSH, FADDY, UL, please comment.

IF someone has the PLATINUM VERSIONS OF THESE DVD'S COULD U PLEASE POST SCREENSHOTS, IT WOULD HELP IMMENSELY.
THANKS
haroon.

Dil Se - Seems like you have the first version of the DVD released by DEI/ERO$ which had a stationary menu and started in the middle of the credits and the subtitles also start before the actual movie begins, meaning during the credits. PQ was excellent along with the audio.

Pardes - The original was double sided, meaning half the movie on one side and 2nd half of the movie on the other. The Platinum version was single sided, menu with music but PQ was average for me, sound was good.

Pardes Zulm.net Platinum Version Review/Screen Shots
Good
- good detail and sharpness
- clean source with only minor blemishes noticeable
- good sound mix
Bad
- cropped 1.85:1 AR from the original 2.35:1
- colours looked slightly washed-out and not vibrant as they should be
- original trailer included but with very poor video and NO sound!
- no song subtitles or real extras

Dil Se Zulm.net Platinum Version Review/Screen Shots
Good
- sharp, well detailed video
- vibrant colours
- dynamic, lively Dolby Digital 5.1 mix
- mostly speckle and tear free source
Bad
- cropped 1.85:1 aspect ratio
- dark scenes lack detail
- DNR artefacts noticeable
- unfriendly 16x9 subtitles - none on songs
- no extras

thanks UL,
the problem is that the DIL SE dvd that I was sent I can tell is an exact replica, of the DEI-EROS version, but there are no subtitles, i don't know if the guy who replicated the disk removed them or they weren't there in the first place. The PARDES version does have subtitles though. So if you have a replica, I guess it's really hard to tell as far as the PARDES version goes, if its PLATINUM or NOT.
Also, the links you sent me, for the DIL SE and PARDES reviews, I thought they were DEI-EROS and not PLATINUM. Also I know there were some postings earlier giving more information about the disks, but the search in this new format for zulm, does not give me anything.
Thanks
Haroon.

I believe the very first DVD of Dil Se initially came without subtitles, later the same DVD came out with subtitles and later the Platinum version came out. Can someone confirm this, I cant say for sure.

The screen shots of the link for Pardes is from the Platinum version. If your menu dont look like it then you might have the previous version which was double sided, but the pirates rencoded it to single side with their own menu :?

They are for the Platinum disc, the link for Dil Se has a pic of the cover with the Platinum label on it, its a bit dark and hard to see though.

I'll try searching and post if I find anything....

UL,

The Pardes menu on the DVD is the same as what it shows in the review, so I guess I have the platinum version. Does that mean that the double-sided PARDES DVD (DEI-EROS), had a different menu from this.

Thanks for all your help
appreciate it!!!

Yes similar to Khal Nayak also by DEI/ERO$, which was later released with a full motion menu but Platinum.

UL is right. The very first version of the DEI-EROS Dil Se dvd did not have subtitles, did not say Platinum edition and had a stationary menu. I bought the dvd when it first came out and this is the version that I have. The menu had a still from the song, 'Satrangi Re' with Manisha in yellow and Shah Rukh in black.

mrig,

you're right, the meny does have the still from the song "satrangi re", is the movie cut in any way or is it complete. Are you happy with your version?

I think the pic quality and sound (5.1) is excellent. So I guess I got the (DEI-EROS) first version of DIL SE and the PLATINUM version of PARDES(DEI), although UL mentioned that pic quality is not that great, I thought it looked really good, could be because I have PARDES on EROS/B4U as well. Its definitely much better than that.

Arsh, am I missing something, I didnt quite get that!!!

Harry personally I thought the PQ could have been better....Dil Se was much better, and sound is/was awesome.

UL,

You could be right, I guess like u said the PLATINUM VERSION was better, did it have better PQ, what exactly was the difference in video and sound.

I wish I could get my hands on your copy Arsh, but sigh............
Well, I did try very hard at several places to get hold of that copy, but to no avail, some stores still use it as a rental, but that would be a last resort, to get a scratched up used rental copy.
Any ideas where to find this title. none of the online stores, have it.

The verdict :-
PARDES had two releases (DEI-EROS) and PLATINUM (enhanced)(DEI)
DIL SE had three releases (DEI-EROS) no subtitile, (DEI-EROS) subtitle(same dvd as the first one) and PLATINUM (enhanced) (DEI).

Is this correct!!!
