I will humbly/ respectfully, agree and differ both here with ali bhaii..etc

BADLY AUTHORED DVDS, if replicated one is to one, i.e KHNH, 2 disc to 2 disc, its VQ should stay the same crap!! If compressed, to put 2 discs on to one..then SHIT, and if u get 2 in one KHNH and CC..for SRK, then u r into MAHA SHIT..

So, first scenario is FEASiBLE!! ORIG quality dupe onto 2 discs, with better/GOLD/reliable media, for $6-7..is the way to go..

Now being DUPE GUYS being clueless!! May be not, in all the cases!!

I bought my only dupe, 2 in one till date..Finding nemo/sinbad!

Now, the 2 in one guys..just copied the film, and that is only WS version, got rid of extras , Std version and DTS..same with SINBAD!!

RESULTS r INCREDIBLE in this case!!Some one USED his BRAINS!!

ORIG finding Nemo, and some other disney dvds, where they have put, STD/WS version on same disc( e.g dady daycare) with DD/DTS..on same disc..results had been terrible PQ!

Yeh what arsh said  - what I meant by dupes in my post was copies onto dvd-r or compressed version from the original DVDs.

You have to understand the way digital copies are being distributed these days. People don’t even have to get hold of the original DVD to make a copy. DVD of Kal Ho Na Ho (compressed DVD-R version) was available to download about the same time the original came out and a day later the p2p networks were swamped with compressed versions from DVD-r to SVCD to DIVX to VCD – you name the format and it’s downloadable from one place or the other. People often take these versions and convert them back to DVD format - cos it’s easier to watch and sell on.

And there’s the other lot who will try and make 1:1 dupes from the original DVD which are sold on as legit ‘official version’ across your favourite neighbourhood retailers. No matter how legit these retailer claim to be most are doing dupes with or without knowing themselves. Often they buy small number of originals to keep officials happy and get bulk loads of dupes to keep themselves happy.

Putting asides the merits of KHNH there’s no denying it’s a popular movie and people will buy it duped, original, download it and distribute by any means. The original DVD is not as bad as some others that have appeared from Eros, Spark, Venus, VS and others. But it’s certainly isn’t a great DVD either, main fall short is the encoding which as always is poor compared to what can be achieved. I’ve now checked the official and two copied DVDs – original was direct from YRF (so unless they have started selling crappy dupes it’s as official as it gets! ), one copy was a DVD-R and other a 1:1 dupe of the original someone sent me. The 1:1 dupe and original doesn’t differ at all – they have the same pixelation problems due to bad encoding. Source is decent and colourful, sharpness is adequate but should be much sharper. Cover on the dupe looks like ‘photo copied’ and slightly faded and there is no inlay card. I didn’t see the official YRF DVD cover/inserts just got the disc from someone. The original disc I had was by hybrid gold/silver disc while the dupe was sliver. Sound and video is exact same. The DVD-R is a copy of original DVD is very badly down sampled – heavy pixelation and blurry video all round. The sound is the same.

And after all that still haven’t seen the movie :bash:

The YRF dupes I've seen have a knockoff hologram that is obviously fake when compared to the better looking, more detailed, original hologram. I shed no tears for YRF. Go to town with the dupes :D

ali, yaar!! Why I am condoning this KHNH, LOC and KHAKEE( new reference quality for shit)..is not because of comparing KHNH to spark,s worst, eros worst!!

KHNH, imho, is one of WORST dvd coming from YRF shitty camp...MDk/MYKSH were plagued with different kinda artifacts and problems , along with bad encoding..but did not have pixellation.

KMG..was badly encoded, had EDGE enhancement, etc etc etc..but still not this COMPRESSION DEFECTS!! like KHNH..

I did agree, kHNH, in some aspects is BETTER than CC/LOC/ARMAAN/KHAKEE..indeed...

BUT, HIGH PRICE POINT of $22 makes it value go lower than those other orig shits, that can be bought orig, sooner or later , less than 7-10 bucks..after first run..and YRF shit, FOREVER >$20...makes its value, quality vs price..V .V Low!!

So, if MPEG one quality on DVD is what hindi DVD VIEWERS r LOOKING FORWARD to, and HAPPY with...I PROTEST!! :baaa: :nopity: :bangbang: :ffs: but again..

Yeh, aapka maal hai, aapki, kamaii hai, aapki chopice hai..jaise marzi udaeey!1 hazoor.. :baaa: :stupid:

btw...the free DVD from Indiaweekly.com was Angoor ... yeah I was one of the bakras who bought it at that ridculous price but wont be one of those who says the pq is good but better than your Ero$/VS releases, and no where close to DEI/BEI.

Surprisingly, Nikhil Advani's audio commentary is quite good on this DVD, as compared to the many other horrible DVD audio commentary(mostly in Hollywood). Certainly not a bad start for a Bollywood DVD.

My free DVD from IW was Faraar, so I guess it varies, but you always get an IW release.

And I agree the commentary was quite interesting to hear.

So who's gonna review the DVD on zulm.net? And when is it appearing on the site? I see Koi Mil Gaya was the last DVD to be reviewed, which was in september. That's pretty long ago, isn't it? :)

The great? :oh: Hybernating?

Is it actually gonna be reviewed, Arsh Bhai-saab? Ya Arsh Bahen kahoon? :oh:
I know most of the time the quality of Indian DVD's are very bad, but with a review you can inform the people why it is so bad and then they won't buy it. Maybe then Yashraj is going to do something about it.. :sus:

Hello to all :)

I haven't the heart to read all of this thread, basically two questions I would like to konw.

1: Is the actual DVD Released or is this a pirate kicking about?

2. Where is the best place to buy this online? I am based in the UK.

Much thanks. :)

1. Actual DVD is on release now by Yash Raj Films in the UK as well as USA and others.

2. Best price I've seen online in the UK is;

http://www.dvdpopcorn.com £15.25

.. or try others like amazon.co.uk or play.com

Basically just replicate the KMG review by MHafner and add a director's commentary and some other better extras. The PQ and sound is basically the same.
