Wanted to post on right choice wrong choice, which was discussed before but was movie specific. We zulmis from around Toronto have discussed on Albion-Woodside and Toronto films often and in various threads. May be we can discuss all these issues in this thread??

For the film Plan, I was critical that Albion did not pick Plan to be shown where as they picked Chameli. Darius thaught otherwise.

This time around, Albion has picked RUDRAKSH (fantasy) and rejected 'Proud to be Indian'. For the week after they have lined up KISMAT. I wanted to see these films and of course agree with their choice.

Of course, I would have preferred these films in Famous Players theatres, but for these not so big films, Albion-Woodside will suffice. I just hope that Rudraksh stays for a second week when KISMAT gets released so that I can see both films in one trip.

1)
Deols are a rage in Toronto, Vancouver and may be all North America.

2)
Isn't Rudraksh a POP CORN/MASALA/POT BOILER too?? Plus Tons of Special Effects. They say it's a fantasy like Alibaba 40 Chor.

As KHAKEE hasn't made it to Hit status yet, anticipation is for Rudraksh to be the first Hit of 2004.

Deols are huge in Toronto. When the Shaheed movie opened in Toronto 2 years ago....they had a special showing with Sunny and Bobby present. People went nuts.

same in vancouver i remember they came on sunday the night when the heartthrobs show was. usually people would go run after the stars at their hotels etc... but instead of chasing hrithik, kareena and them everyone was running to the theaters from shows that had their apperances as early as 9 in the morning to a 3:30 show and the tickets were $15

Get real--NOw is 2004 ..YOu are living in history..

I will believe you if John Abraham too is 'Punjab da Puttar'. This is all that counts where Punjabi, Sikh, Jat are in majority among the South Asian Population. :D

Toronto surely does not have majority viewers of Indian film from the Punjabi-Jat and Sikh community..There are lots of West Indians and South Americans in Toronto too..

I guess you are right about John Abrahm and his fan following. Deols too have their fans.

John Abrahm must be the reason AETBAAR, (INTEHA repackaged), is playing at Albion Woodside in its 4th week.

BTW, who do you count as South American Indian film goers?? Guyana Trinidad, I guess count as West Indies??

Initially, only RUDRAKSH was scheduled at Albion Woodside, but now they have added Proud to be Indian as well.

In India Hindi Belt, Proud to Be Indian is playing with Hindi Title. Wonder what's the language of the film; Hindi/ English/ Hinglish or if there are different language versions?? The film was made for Overseas audience in mind.

Maybe this thread should be called "Discusssing the Deols".. :D

Now regarding the Crap Toronto Cinemas...

I suggest whom ever has a basement should invest in a 2-3000.00 LCD and screw these money hungry low life cinemas until they upscale to decent service and decent sitting area, sound et al.

Now even if I did not have an LCD I still would not go watch at these places man...

When others improve service and all, these clowns get shittier by the years :O ...typical indian mentality, and the typical indian public still pay 10 bucks for dungy chutney smelling seats. C'mon people raise your standards only then will these clowns understand that todays Desi wants substance not bullshit..

Untill these clowns don't start loosing public because of their sub-standard of service and dungy rooms called theatre rooms, they will never upgrade, your grandson will go and sit on the same seat you had sex on some 50 years ago...

So people let these f#$#ing clowns know that the Desi has changed and that we will call the shots...this is not the 1950's where they are the only entertainment choice around....

If there are enough quality concious Indian Filmi fans around, screening Indian Films in quality theatres like Square One should be possible.

I agree with the Home Theatre idea, but quality software of Indian films (DVDs) is not available.

Rana, I've got an LCD with XGA resolution, I only rent Dupes (copies made from the originals) and the quality is great close to my English flicks...man..my screen size is 110 ".

The sound on many of them is actually amazing. So I wouldn't blame the software out there..obviously some is'nt as good as the hollywood stuff.

Then again look at hollywood, Goodfellas is a crap print, the original Scarface was shittier than Kal Ho na Ho..Casino is not all that great either... So hollywood has its fare share of shit shoftware also and with budgets that are worth some countries GDP...its a shame that Universal, Warner and some make stuff like this. Just look at the Back to the Future Fiasco...the only reason Universal replaced the disks is because of vendor backlash they may face...and still you had to mail in the disks and wait....so it costs one money on top just to get the right version.

Anyways back to the topic....The LCD at XGA resolution does create a beautiful Picture .....hey that gives me an Idea..why not have a GTA DESI home theatre Meet!

If we get enough guys from this post, I could even demonstrate the LCD at my house...
