Sahara city gets ready for blockbuster wedding
After flights charter them to the biggest bash in recent times_the twin weddings of Sahara honcho Subrata Roy's sons Sushanto (February 10) and Seemanto (February 14) to Richa Ahuja and Chandni Singh Toor respectively.
Even Sooraj Barjatya couldn't have pulled this one off. At this wedding, Amitabh Bachchan, Amar Singh, Aishwarya Rai, Leander Paes and Saurav Ganguly will welcome the guests.
Preparations are on at the 110-acre Sahara city in Lucknow. Dimple Kapadia's doing the candles, Hemant Oberoi of the Taj Group the feast, designers Abu-Sandeep are in charge of clothes for family friends and Aishwarya's outfits are by Ritu Beri. Rajkumar Santoshi will direct (``I'm just overseeing so there are no glitches'') the video and leading art director Bijon Dasgupta will supervise 'pandal' decorations.
The 'sangeet' will have UK's Birmingham symphony, VJ Sophia, DJ Aqeel, Shiamak Davar and Jassi. ``I think my music video for 'Mera Babu' struck a chord,'' said MTV's VJ Sophia, who will also perform 'Kal Ho Naa Ho's 'It's the time to disco'. Adds Aqeel: ``I'm very excited, I'll play a mix of Hindi and English.''
Said Santoshi: ``This isn't an official assignment, I am doing it since I have family relations with Sahara Shri.'' Bollywood Inc will be represented by Amitabh and Jaya Bachchan, Shah Rukh Khan, Aishwarya Rai, Karisma Kapoor, Sridevi and Boney Kapoor, Govinda, Kareena Kapoor and Rani Mukerji. The politicians_PM Vajpayee and 14 Governors have already confirmed_and Mumbai's TV world will be well-represented too.
