There are certain things that our Hindi films just can’t do without. Whether it is the hapless mother or the scheming bad guy, some characters will find a place in every plot. Similarly, new lines come and go but there are certain snatches of dialogue that the scriptwriters can’t seem to replace. Then, there is the all pervading maang mein sindoor... and gaajar ka halwa... that weave themselves into every film effortlessly, time and again.
