Cinemas have been slow in opting for digital projection system . With no options left , suppliers are now even offering their equipments on rental basis to cinemas which are not keen to permanently instal the same . Such cinemas use digital projection for a few week when a big starcast film releases .

In C.P. Berar alone , 30 cinemas in small centres will be opting for the new system , most of them on temporary basis . Because of this , they will get to screen , Khakee , via hard disk from 23rd January itself . In its absence , such cinemas would have to wait for some weeks before the costly prints reached them .

As far as I know we are not talking 100000$ DLPs here
but basically consumer DLPs that are installed in
Indian cinemas. 10 times cheaper.

That is an accurate depiction of the facts. In India it is quite common for consumer grade products to be used by professionals and this is true for all kinds of fields such as the cable industry, photographers, internet service providers etc. etc. the list is never ending.
