The song collection in the DVD is great.
As for the print. It is depending on the song from the movie. Mostly decent prints, however few old song numbers does lack clarity.

Over-all a great DVD to have for collection.

Hi Shuman,
Thank you for the quick reply. I believe some of the songs are in 4:3!, If that is the case I have problem watching in 16:9 display. Can you tell me what percentage (rough guess) of songs is in 4:3?
I mean my screen is in 16:9, which is again masked for 2.35:1 material (my projector is in 4:3). So I have to adjust my projector to watch in 4:3. For movie in 4:3, I can do that but not for some songs.

You can not go wrong with this DVD. This is one of the available 10 or so film mode song DVDs. I think one third of the songs are in 4:3, rest are anamorphic widescreen. I will confirm it tomorrow.

Thank you Rana and Arsh. I am glad to know this. I am going to grab the dvd from Indiaweekly.com.
By the way last night I have watched the DEI dvd ‘Hum dil de chuke sanam’ n^th time even though I hate the lead actores in that movie. Great dvd for a great movie.

Sorry for the mix-up.

ganti, I think you were asking about Down Memory Lane, and my reply (1/3rd songs in 4:3) was for Mission Bollywood.

In Down memory lane only 14 of the 60 songs are anamorphic widescreen. The quality is excellent though.

MISSION BOLLYWOOD contains 44 songs on 2 discs:

36 SONGS from the following 8 films are Anamorphic and DD5.1:
FIZA
HDDCS
DAPK
KNPH
TARKEIB
ASTITVA
HSSH
JDMGRH

8 SONGS from the following 2 films are 1.85:1 letterboxed in a 4:3 frame and are DD5.1:
BAADAL
JAANWAR

DOWN MEMORY LANE contains 60 songs on 2 discs (not sure of the audio; I think all are DD mono):

14 SONGS from the following films are Anamorphic:
KUDRAT
CHAAND KA TUKDA
ROJA
DEEWANA

43 SONGS from the following films are 4:3 full frame:
Laila Majnu
Mere Huzoor
Sharmilee
Guddi
Mere Mehboob
Ganga Jamuna
Golmaal
Aadmi
Black Mail
Mother India
Haseena Maan Jaayegi
Mere Apne
Pratigya
Hawas
Saajan Bina Suhaagan
Aashirwad
Kaash
Khubsurat
Saajan Ki Saheli
Sanam Bewafa

3 SONGS from the following films are 1.85:1 letterboxed in 4:3 frame:
Souten

I guess your system fills up the 16:9 frame as soon as it sees any progressive input. I am sure Add-ons are available now which can modify the Aspect Ratio in digital domain (I don’t know which ones). Not able to watch 4:3 with progressive output, you are missing on all of the EROS-DEI and EVP film DVDs and song DVDs which are all in film mode but are 4:3 (EVP is full frame; EROS-DEI is letter boxed).

I am looking for some options on watching 4:3 material on 16:9 panel with bars on left and right.
As my projector is not 16:9 and most of the DVD’s are in 1.85:1 I am using a screen with 1.85:1 by masking the rest of the image. And I also have a flexible masking system to use for
2.35:1 dvd’s. For 4:3 materials I am resizing the dvd window (not a good option but I don’t have a choice).
