Further on Shemaroo CHHALIA:

Shemaroo CHHALIA is 115 min long and CC is dated 1980. My VHS copy is 138 min long and is from the same 1980 CC version.

Most of the cuts in Shemaroo version perhaps are due to lost film elements, except for one long sequence involving the orphan (Rehmaan-Nutan's Son) boy in School (and interaction with Rehmaan). This scene seems to have been cut intentionally by the editor. (Not much effect on story and yet trims the film by 6-7 min). Also missing is a 2 min scene showing Rehmaan getting the teaching job and that the Head Master is family friend who knows Rehmaan family situation well.

Another sequence showing the boy in the school is at a different location in the film, to make up for the above mentioned cut. Along with this juggled scene, another sequence, where Raj Kapoor gives a wrist watch/ bracelet to Nutan, is also at a different location.

None of the two versions show the reason for Pran and Chhalia's deep historic enimosity. Why do they have to stare and growl at each other as soon as they come face to face. Perhaps, this background sequence has been lost for ever.

Rana

BTW, both are field averaged video; most likely PAL to NTSC.

I got my list (Excel sheet) around Nov 3 and has about 214-215. Up to 3 Deewarein.

Your list must be more recent one as my list doesn't have other titles that you mentioned.

Rana

P.S.

Everyone, If interested in checking Shemaroo CHHALIA cuts, I posted some info on page 4 of this thread which you might miss as we got into this page right after that.

Ek Chadar Maili Si - A very convincing portrayal by Hema Malini of a punjabi women that is beaten up by her alcoholic husband... Shemaroo's site is showing this only available as VCD. How do you know if this is available on DVD? If someone has the complete list of Shemaroo dvds, is it possible to post that list on here...

This is strange.. the cover stats 135 minutes. yet the feature movie as you mentioned is 1 hour 54 minutes 33 seconds.

awwwww :angry: :angry:

Baba version of dvd shows 120 minutes (according to the website).

Thanks Shuman, excellent work as usual! :)

Wish you would become Shemaroo's official overseas agent and ship these dvds at 349 rupees (equivalent) price plus 20% commission...

:D

http://www.zulm.net/cgi-bin/ikonboard.c ... 4139;st=20

YRF total run time = 224 min
Shemaroo total run time = 183 min
VHS (Esquire), CC dated 1970 = 228 min (counting adverts, blanks etc out)
(VHS is Film to NTSC telecine, so no speed shift.)

Part 1
Shemaroo = 61 min,
VHS = 73 min 00 Sec. (start sequence and CC = 15 min; leaving Rishi-Simmi part = 58 min)

Part 2
Shemaroo = 71 min,
VHS = 90 min 20 Sec.
(Raj Kapoor and Russian part = 90 min 20 Sec.)

Part 3
Shemaroo = 51 min,
VHS = 64 min 45 Sec.

So, part 2 is most cut; by 19 min 20 Sec, in Shemaroo.

Agrees with what Raj Kapoor said, part 2 should be totally cut but it removes the subject of the film. Obviously, RK trimmed MNJ (in the mid 70s) according to his preference.

Rana

BTW, Shemaroo MNJ is Pseudo-Prog for Part 1 and for Part 2 and Field Averaged for Part 3.
