Award-winning New York independent filmmaker Peter Matei travels to Bombay to infiltrate India's thriving film industry – Bollywood. Mattei attempts to get his own Bollywood film off the ground – an epic musical based on Shakespeare's Hamlet – but he what he finds is that Bollywood is not much different than Hollywood, i.e. every film needs a major star in order to get a green light.

I just watched this yesterday. Mattei (who directed a film called "Love In The Time Of Money," starring Steve Buscemi and Rosario Dawson) travels to Mumbai to try and meet Karan Johar and pitch the idea of making a Shakespearean adaptation. In his travels, he meets scorer Anu Malik, actors Amitabh Bachchan, Bipasha Basu, and Anil Kapoor, as well as others. It's more a travelogue and a really short peek at Bollywood from an outsider's perspective but I got a kick out of it nonetheless.

Interestingly enough, he also did another AMC special called "I Want To Be Clive Mclean," where he follows the L.A. porn industry in a similar vein. I wonder if they're going to send Mattei to explore other film industries.
