I have a question. I never bought any new EROS dvds, only got few EROS/DEI ones for older movies. So my question is how is the media, gold/silver/mixed? And, anybody experienced any disc rotting problems? thanks

I don't know if they attempted to touch the 5.1 sound, but it has ended up on the platter with quite severe distortions in the dialogue.

WHAT!? Are you saying it has those damn glitches!? :ffs:

I mean that the film print used to transfer the images to DVD are not too bad. Simply put, I prefer images of an excellent source print paired with a not-so-good DVD transfer - over contrasty, speckled and scratched source print with an excellent DVD transfer with high bit rate. This preference probably stems from the fact that I view DVDs on a 29-inch TV. If I were to project films onto a very large screen, I would probably prefer the latter kind of DVDs.

The dialogue definite peaks and distorts in some scenes. This may be inherent in the original ADR recording - in fact that's quite likely.

Oohh.. thanx 4 explaining that! :)

You notice, the DUMB STUPID movies from Eros never have glitches, like KNK, SSSSHHH, Parwana etc, but Tere Naam did!? In a song no less!

I hope Baghban doesn't have glitches in the songs  :baaa:

End Credits in BAGHBAN included one small credit:

Telecine by AUDIUS (MUKTA ARTS)

Any idea, what does it mean??

Telecine conversion was done by Mukta Arts??
Was it done for TV commercials only or is it the same telecine on NTSC DVD as well??
(DVD telecine is Film to NTSC)

my "don" dvd (released by dei) has stopped working. it sucks becuase the version is almost impossible 2 track down nowdays, and it featured superb quality. 1 day it just started freezing a lot and now it barely runs. there rn't any scratches on it or anything and i have stored it in the proper temperature, etc. :'(

Thats what happened to my MOTHER INDIA by DEI - one day it froze and it froze forever! Both Don and Mother India are easily available, but is it worth wasting your money again?

In a state of compelling paranoia, I shall do my monthly check of my DON dvd immediately!

:) :D

Armaan, I would not waste my time if it is a DEI dvd from Indiaweekly. It will freeze. Just a matter of time. My DON dvd only plays 3/4ths of the movie. Rest is frozen. :nopity:

Does it imply if BEI DVD batches originate from INDIAPLAZA.COM, it will be on Gold Media, like good old times??

Are DVDs sold in expensive stores on Gold Media??

Actually, no, I did not mean to imply that. All I know is that I bought a few DEI dvds from Indiaweekly at very low prices $2.99-5.99 and they all seem to have freezing problems. So, I am not sure if I got the original dvd or a replicated one. I suspect I have the replicated one which is why they failed.

I don't know which other online retailer is better.

IndiaWeekly's prices are flactuating all the time. If DON is going for $5.99 now, it will be $6.99 by tommorow. How can I be assured that they will send a better quality disc if I wait for the $6.99 price, rather than buy today at $5.99. Even if they have dual stock (original and replicated), nobody knows the DIVIDING PRICE... Are you suggesting, avoid IW altogether for DEI/BEI titles?

The freezing problem seems to be only on dvd roms or dvd players that have a dvd rom drive as the transport(like the bravo d1). The same dvd plays fine in my JVC progressive scan player. Can we make a list of players that seem to have this problem?
