Now I know that a lot of people here did not like this movie, but I personally liked as it is very similar to our (me and my wife) lives.

I would like to get this DVD but the VHS copy which was copied from this DVD, looks like has sound distortions. Now, I am not sure if it was from the VHS or if the actual DVD was like this as well. Can anyone (who has this DVD) find out for me?

I saw the DVD last night (VERY boring film btw)..., here's my impressions.

First off the making and the trailers had NO SOUND!! I don't know why, but my DVD player detected it to have MPEG1 1-channel audio and no sound could be outputted through my receiver or the tv speakers (I tried both). The menu and the main feature had sound though.

The feature is approx. 2.20:1 anamorphic (very slightly cropped, if any) while the sound is proper 5.1. As this is a drama movie, you can't really feel the surround sound till the songs, in which the music kicks in loud and clear. The film has surprisingly loud bass (which I liked!). The video is kinda dark and slightly soft-looking like all Eros transfers. It is definately not as bad as Bawandar, and I would put this on par with either Indian, or Yeh Tera Ghar Yeh Mera Ghar. Not as good as Ajnabee or PIM though. There were compression artifacts that I noticed. I did see the frame jump a couple times though but that could have been the source material. There were no major blemishes or speckles to be seen.

Overall it's a standard Eros DVD - take that for what its' worth. But I HATE HATE HATE the movie - not only the storyline is so dumb, but it is very SLOW PACED for a SHORT movie (150 mins), and is EXTREMELY BORING! The acting isn't all THAT good either.

Trying changing DVD player audio setting to PCM out - Lajja had similar problems

thanks ali for the help.

now a tech question, if I switch to PCM, the sound will be equivalent to a 2-ch stereo mix right??? That aint DD!!
I could live with this for the trailers and the making, but if the whole movie was in this format, I would have been really pissed!!

Yeh if you switch to PCM when it goes dual channel - most you can get a pro-logic surround out of it. The first release of Lajja DVD was like this and the only known DVD to have audio in Mpeg1 format from Eros. They rectified with a proper 5.1 track in the second release.

I have a Toshiba (I think an SD-2108, not 2109) and it says that the sound for making and promos were in MPEG. I still didn't get any sound when I switched to PCM or Analog, probably because my player isn't connected to the TV or receiver via audio RCA wires. The only audio connection (for now) is through an Optical fibrelink cable to my receiver.

However the sound for making and promos work on my PS2, which is connected to the TV via audio RCA wires.

Thanks for Review Ali! I agree with u 200% on PATHETIC dvd made by EROS!!
May I request ur 2 cents on the movie it self!! Lately u have not been including CONTENTS in ur reviews/previews?
Another point was comments on technical difficulties with sound!? that some of our Zulmis were facing in sound track? i did not have any problem my self but still DVD it self is 2 THUMBS..Way DOWN as its quality is concerned..Excluding FILM it self!

I've not seen the film. The review is from viewing the songs and quick browsing through the DVD.

From the songs the film look very well made, brilliantly shot songs. Let you know about the film once I've seen it.

got this disc this morning, im curious to know if anyone else is having the same problem as me..!! The rear surrounds have a distortion in it whenever there is a lot of surround sound effect!! i tested it on prologic, 2-ch and the 5 ch cinema sound surround with my system and you cannot hear it, but when I output it in a true 5.1 stream i can hear crackilng and breaking up of the sound in the rear surrounds... it is proper annoying... im just wondering is it a disc problem or is it just mine

Faddy bhai, it's not your ears playing tricks on you. The fault is with the mastering of the DVD, infact this is a problem I have noticed atleast in 2 other recent Eros DVDs that I watched, namely 'Tera Mera Saath Rahen' & 'Koi Mere Dil Se Pooche'. The distortion in the rear speakers is so bad that it almost sounds as if the speakers are damaged.
