You can't go wrong with Harmon Kardon, Denon, or pioneer elite, if you can get them for around 200. I don't think Panasonic makes very good receivers!!

Try looking at http://www.hometheaterforum.com for more on receivers.

out!!!!

I agree with punjabimunda, stay away from Panasonic recievers, even though I am a Panasonic freak I dont think their recievers are the best. I would go for Pioneer Elite or Harmon Kardon if you can find them at decent prices, under $200.

Hi folks,
Thanks for ur suggestion, Now I have narrowed down my choices to these receivers as they look best to me in the price range,
Dennon- AVR 1603.
Pioneer- VSXD712K.
Yamaha- HTR5540.
Now, out of these three two says they have DB-EX and DTS-ES, but dunno which will be best. Please help me to sort out the best.
Thanks

wait untill you can afford the pioneer 912K. it's $100 more, but it's supposed to be the best value for your money. even better, buy a $300 receiver on credit from Best Buy/Futureshop, in a month, hopefully you can afford the extra $100. that way you can get a receiver for $0, test it out for a month, and have the option of returning it at the end of the month.

IMO the Denon and the Yamaha are better than the pioneer. Just listen to the receivers using the same speakers and the same CD/DVD and decide which one sounds the best to you!!

Agree with Arsh, Denon offers the best while Onkyo will give you a great receiver for a little less than Denon. HK also deserves a look. Out of the ones you've narrowed down to, based purely on brand I would go with Denon; but I don't know anything about the specific models.
