I'm going to central London next Wednesday for a Uni interview and I'll have a few hours to venture into shops.
I doubt Central London will have any desi DVD shops but does anyone know any places with reasonable proximity to a tube station that will sell [cheap] Bollywood DVDs?

Just browse the entire South Hall for stores.

Loads of shops on Brick Lane too (near city centre; get off at Aldgate East from the tube - few stops away from Liverpool Street) and Brick Lane is just outside.

Apart from Brick Lane you could try Ealing Road (Wembly). Take the Picadilly Line to Alperton Station - turn left outside the station and head up the road. There are a few desi music/DVD stores there. Brick Lane is more central than Ealing Road. Personally I think that Southall is the best for buying Desi stuff - but it's really difficult to get there using public transport!

many stalls also - i was shocked to pick up the Chori Chori Chupke 2dvd set from one of these stalls [def the orig] - no other shop had this dvd - maybe the stall was one of EROSS!!??????

I think there is also another 3/4 shops

Expect to pay around 18/19 quid and maybe 17 the least - thats if u buy in bulk!!

There is also one Appolo shop - be careful wot u buy from here - i would keep clear from the Appollo dvds themselves - shit quality and at full price!!!

Thanks for the info guys. I'll make a visit to Southall at the least. For some odd reason I'm drawn to the metro shop :p .
I shall report back any findings :)

UK shops are not known for selling cheap stuff, as I work in London, its the last place I would buy DVD's (shops only) as they are over priced. Stick to the net and get bargins.

But if want desi atmosphere, then go to Ealing Road in Wembley or Southall its great for good food. Boy I am hungry now....
