Hi, Im new to Bollywood movies and I love them. But Im very picky: Im looking for DVDs to buy of pretty good Bollywood movies while having a pretty good video (anamorphic)/audio(DD 5.1) quality of the dvd. I don't mind if they are bootleg as long as the quality is as good as the original.

The ones that I own so far are:

Devdas: 2-disc box Eros version
Company: Eros version
Mission Kashmir: Columbia R 1 version
[B]

I have seen the good R1 DVD versions of Lagaan and Asoka, but I personally don't think these movies have rewatchable value, so I don't wanna buy them.

I had the Ankaan dvd but I gave it away it was such a bad movie and poor dvd.

And I have seen Andaaz in the USA theater- it was entertaining movie but not worth buying because I can't stand any Bollywood movie which ruins the movie by throwing in a goofy-slapstick character such as G. I. Joe. I have noticed that the less filler and less stupidity, the better the Bollywood movie...

I just ordered 1942 A Love Story DVD online, although I expect it to be poor dvd quality.

Does anyone have any recommendations for the best dvd versions (even bootleg ones) of the most re-watchable & entertaining Bollywood movies?? Help!! I need more perfect examples of Bollywood movies so that I can show my other non-hindi peepes that Bollywood musical movies are cool!!

Kaho Naa Pyaar Hai (DEI 2 disk version)
Hum Dil De Chuke Sanam (DEI 2 disk)
Hum Sath-Sath Hain (DEI 2 disk)
Ek Rishtaa (DEI 2 disk)
Kabhi Kushi Khabhi Gham (it was a decent dvd but the titles above are better dvds than this one. there is a 1/2 disk it dose not matter which one you get unless if you want special features)

Movies with little or no goofy slapstick:

Kannathil Muthamittal -A peck on the Cheek (Ayngaran)
Saathiya- (Yash Raj)
Dil Se- (DEI) non-anamorphic>but deserved to be watched.
Dil Chahta Hai (Spark)
Bhoot (Eros) -not a musical.

Thanks Spike and Izzy, I will look for those dvds...So where is the best online store to find DEI dvds? According to what Ive researched, the DEI dvds are hard to find now due to bankruptcy. And then Ive also heard that you just have to specify to the online sellers that I want the DEI version. Is this how it's done? And do these online sellers have tons and tons of DEI dvds in their inventory???

Thank you again everyone for your recommendations. I just received Saathiya, Dil Chahta Hai, and Kaho Naa Pyaar Hai from Nehaflix.com even before I could blink my eyes. These guys are super fast!!! The dvd quality on all three were super.

I only had time to watch Saathiya today and it was a really great movie about love! That car crash scene was pretty shocking. I watched it in slow motion and it still looked real to me. Pretty good CGI or special effects! There certainly is a frequent theme about jealousy, mistrust, and lack of communication within family/friends/mates in most of these good Bollywood movies. Hindi movies are definitely the kings of the love/relationship soap opera genre!!! Will Vivek get an award for best actor? He really is a good actor!
