this would be my top 10 list of 2001;
10. Chandni Bar
9. Pyar Tuna Kya Kiya
8. Aks
7. Asoka
6. Zubeidaa
5. Tera Mera Saath Rahan
4. Lajja
3. K3G
2. Lagaan
1. Dil Chahta Hai
(honorable mentions to Tum Bin)

The thing that really bothers me about there list, is that, they got Kasoor on the top 10 list. I thought Kasoor was straight out horriable, the only pleasure i got in watching that film was watching Lisa Ray the entire time :p films like Gadar, Nayak, Jodi no.1, even Muja Kuch Kena Hai were much better than Kasoor in my opinion.

10. ONE TWO KA FOUR - I think critics and audiences ripped apart this film too quickly. Yes, it does have its share of flaws, but it was exciting, well acted (especially by Juhi Chawla) and had awesome song sequences. I guess it was my guilty pleasure of 2001.

9. AJNABEE - Ok, this won't win any awards either, and the comedy track with Johnny Lever was insulting to our intelligence as an audience, but it still remained an entertaining fare with excellent production values. The songs by Anu Malik were also great.

8. LAJJA - I appreciate Rajkumar Santoshi's message here, even if it did get a bit lost every once in a while during the journey. But there are moments of brilliance throughout the film, and the performances were awesome from a bold cast.

7. MONSOON WEDDING - Highly overrated, if you ask me. I expected a lot more from Nair (the ending did not tie up all loose ends properly!), but then I look back and see all the things that worked. Nasureedin Shah finally makes a good comeback, and the rest of the cast is endearing.

6. KKKG - I wasn't expecting such a good movie, because I really disliked KKHH. The first half of the film, I think, is brilliant and flawless; however, the second half gets way too melodramatic and unrealistic. Although I like it, I still don't want it to walk away with the awards (Kajol for comedian, not actress!)

5. CHANDNI BAR - A hard movie to watch, and defenitely not feel good stuff of the year. Tabu bravely takes on a dark and gritty character that she succeeds in bringing to the screen. Although flawed, the thematic elements and reality behind this film cannot be ignored.

4. DIL CHAHTA HAI - Very stylized film is truly fun to watch, with a fantastic ensemble (both on and off camera). The performances are all first rate here, although Khanna gets full marks. The second half was flawed, though, for it went into that whole wedding business that was just stupid.

3. ASOKA - Another hugely underrated film, although understandably misunderstood. As it stands, the theatrical version is overlong and a bit weak; the film festival version was trimmed by half an hour and was rid of three unnecessary songs, and the result was awesome.

2. ZUBEIDAA - This movie deserved to be internationally recognized as much as, or even more than ASOKA and LAGAAN. It's like watching a tribute to the classic films of the past, as well as recognizing a contemporary element within. Karisma Kapoor, without a doubt, deserves to win all awards this year for her astoudning transformation.

1. LAGAAN - It's hard to see anything coming in front of this title on any list. No one can deny the absolute perfection of this film, in all respects from technical merit to the performances. There's not much more to say, but if this film does not win best picture of the year as the award ceremonies, there will be hell to pay.

Runner ups - none, the rest of this year sucked.

man! you sure turned my head by putting this film on your top 10. I mean, everyone's got there different, different opinions of the 10 best films of the year. But no way in blue hell was I expecting anyone to put ONE TWO KA FOUR on there list.

I don't think I watched more than 10 - 12 hindi movies last year (or if I did I don't remember). But here is what I remebered and liked. Unless I distinctly remember not liking it, it made the list.

1. Dil Chahta Hai
2. Lagaan
3. Chandni Bar
4. Bawandar
5. Aks
6. Abhay
7. Lajja

Ones definitely not making the list:
K3G (except for stars and the cars. The movie was pretty lame), Yaadein (worst money I spent on a movie ever)
