FILMFARE.COM `Bhoot' has brought new `life' into Bollywood. The same audiences who wear emotions on their sleeves, and go ga-ga over excessively emotional soppy tales are now scurrying to the nearest theatres to get the fright of their lives. And Ramu's `Bhoot' has brought about this pleasantly frightful change. The film has opened to full houses in Punjab (where normally only run-of-the-mill flicks can do wonders at the box-office), as well as the other `A' and `B' centres. In Mumbai, tickets are moving at a really fast pace.

BHHOT is SUPER HIT:

BHOOT-A VERY PROFITABLE VENTURE Bhoot released last week can be called profitable already. The film cost Ram Gopal Verma exactly 9 crore including prints and publicity. The prints were delivered at no cost to distributors. They were paid for by the producers. The film cost 5 crore to make, the prints around 2 crore and publicity around 2 crore. The following is the sort of business it has done. Mumbai/Maharashtara/Gujarat The film was sold here for 1.5 crore and released on 80 prints and the 1st week itself will bring in 2.5 crore making it already in profit.SUPERHIT Delhi/UP The film was sold here for 1.25 crore and released on 35 prints and although the smaller centres of UP fell from Monday, business from Delhi,Lucknow and Kanpur will ensure the film makes a profit.HIT South The film was sold for 1 crore here and released on 35 prints. The RGV name will ensure the film is a winner here even with the comparatively high price.ABOVE AVERAGE East Punjab The film was sold for 35 lakhs and released on 27 prints to a suprisingly great response but as expected collections fell on Monday but distributors will recover their investment in the 1st week. The new multiplexes in Gurgaon will give a share of 6 lakhs in 1st week and with A grade centreslike Ludhiana and Chandigarh giving a share of a further 15 lakhs it will make it 21 lakhs from just 3 centres and 5 prints.HIT Bihar The film was sold here for 25 lakhs and released on 24 prints but it was a non starter and collections fell further. The distributors will lose around 70% of there investment as the film is just a week runner(2 weeks possible in Patna).WASH OUT West Bengal The film was sold here for 40 lakhs and released on 27 prints. The business in Kolkatta city is okay but the film may struggle to make a profit even with a low price.BELOW AVERAGE/FLOP CP Berar The film was sold here for 45 lakhs and released on 28 prints and it got a great opening which will ensure profits although collections started dropping on Monday but the 1st week distributors share is expected to be around 45-50 lakhs.HIT CI The film was sold for 18 lakhs and released on 12 prints but got a dull opening and didn't pick up.LOSING Rajasthan The film was sold for 25 lakhs here and released on 15 prints. The opening was bumper in Jaipur and this centre alone will give recovery of about 25 lakhs in its run.But this is the only centre where the film is behaving well here.HIT

The hit after hit might stop there!

Khwahish and Nayee Padosan might not be successful.

But of course, Chalte Chalte and MPKDH, two films I'm not really looking forward to, might just keep this hit-after-hit process going.

The biggie I am expecting is Darna Mana Hai.
