Fir rana, and all DTS theatric presentation, lovers..

it is EYE opener..why dont we see HINDI MOVIES, in HINDI CINEMA MULTIPLEX THEATRES...???

Ok..here you, go, all MATTER of ECONOMICS..If you have a DTS print..it comes with a CD for DTS sound track, and can be PLAYED only, on ONE SCREEN at ONE TIME>>>

If, you have DD print, with no CD, you can play, same print in 5-8 Screens, simeltaneously, at a bit different start to finish timing..like show/every hour...

So, what will you get ONE DD PRINT and play on 8 screens? or 8 DTS prints, to play/every hour show on 8 screens..?

Answer is CLEAR!! THEATRE owners, dont want even to get 2 prints, one DD and one DTS..Damn it..

So, if you r watching a HINDI movie in a HINDI THEATRE MULTIPLEX..You will be LOOSER!! most of time..

While, in Main stream theatre, if they GET one only, print, one screen and Limited showing..MORE CHANCES, relatively, to catch a DTS viewing...

Thats, what I got from my LOCAL THEATRE, while PROTESTING, WHY they dont SHOW movies in DTS???

They told, me only TAMIL movies? as I think, limited screening or by exclusion, has only DTS sound..no way out!!
:baaa: :bangbang:  :stupid: :ffs:

How do you project 1 print onto more than one screen at the same time?

In a mulitiplex, a single print can be made to run from one projection room to another to yet another by some kind of roller devices resulting in an almost similar presentation in each hall. And as the DD tracks are printed onto the film itself, DD playback becomes the easiest and most efficient method of presentation.

A lot of Multiplexes are designed such, that the projection room is shared by mutiple (usually 2) screens. Therefore if the start time on both screens is appropriately spaced out a single print can be used to project on both screens.

For example, as soon as reel 1 of a movie is done playing in screen 1, it can be shown in screen 2, then when screen 2 is done with reel 1, it can be shown on screen 3?

This is one method...but also note the other method where the same print runs from one projector all the way to another resulting in a simultaneous presentation on more than one screen with the same reel.

This method is called interlocking and a single print can be simultaneously be looped into three projectors. But it has some disadvantages. The print deteriorate much more rapidly as the print is running three times at one go and if in the unlikely that the print breaks, all three cinemas will be affected. But nevertheless it is a good idea. Once I looped a single print of Gladiator that had 8 channel SDDS, DTS and Dolby Digital into three projectors. It was awesome...I could compare all three systems...though SDDS was the best.

It is actually all up to the projectionist and theater manager. Most Hindi films are shown in the worst theater in the multiplex. So there is no choice of digital sound. Or either the projectionist is lazy to put in the DTS disc or worse the print is mono with incompatible digital system.

Projectionists can always make copies of the DTS discs and use it in different DTS drives.

Film Print rental costs thousands of dollars. How much is the cost/ rental of an extra DTS disc?? Can't be more than $ 50.
