Man, celebrities coming to your school, field trips to movies, I wish I went to your school! :) :baaa:

Arsh, not to worry, I'm sure it will be anamorphic. DTS is a possibility from Fox, but they don't put it on everything like Universal does. An independent non-Indian video store here advertised BILB for rent on DVD. They're probably renting the R2 version. And of course, there's the pirated one that the Indian stores have been renting for a long time now.

you may also need correct spelling and occasional punctuation marks for that "A" too...

I gave a visit to one Indian DVD store today that was selling the R2 DVD of BILB for $10(canadian). I would have gotten it, but I don't have a 0 Region DVD player. But I don't know if the dealer himself realizes that the BILB DVD is a R2 DVD and that it won't work on most DVD players people hold in Canada or America.

Say people, does anyone know if WHAT'S COOKING was released on DVD or not? After having seen both BHAJI ON THE BEACH and BILB, I do believe Gurinder Chaddha is a terrific writer(she did write all of them I believe) and amongst her, Deepa Mehta and Mira Nair, prefer Chaddha's style of story telling than the others.....Whereas the last film of all the three makers has been rather pleasing, Nair and Mehta are a bit too stuffy for my like.....but hey if they continue to make movies they have last given us, I dont see why my humble opinion might not change......and ofcourse Shekhar Kapur is the other pompous ass that needs to be shown his place....his FOUR FEATHERS was such a letdown....and the way he went on and on about the western and eastern philospohies in the specials, he almost had me puke !!!!

Helkon SK who released the BILB DVD in the UK also have What's Cooking? due for release - it was passed for video release early April by the UK censor board.

the spelling is ok, but please punctuate a bit at least. it's hard to understand you and we have to read over your posts a couple times before we know what you're saying.

2. Whomever thinks that the Golden Globes is "a joke" of awards is a joke themselves to begin with. In Hollywood, the Globes are considered the second most vital film awards ceremony right after the Academy Awards, and like Sanjay has pointed out earlier, the Academy is strongly induced by the decisions made at the Golden Globes.

Sorry you think that, but it is the truth. Read Variety or any other industry publication if you don't believe me. Look into the Golden Globes and the Hollywood Foreign Press. They are not a prestigious organization. Most people have never heard of the people who make it up.

The awards are a party, that is pretty much it. Up until a few years ago when Dick Clark bought them with all the awards show mania, they weren't even broadcast nationally. They were taped and shown syndicated weeks later. Most of the people who won didn't even show up.

As for them "strongly inducing" the Oscars, that isn't true at all. The people who vote for the Oscars don't look at who won a Golden Globe to see who to vote for. Many have already voted.

Of all the critics organizations, they are the least reputable. Look at the Pia Zadora win or the alleged times that actors were able to buy an award. But in the post Dick Clark days, since they get broadcast on NBC, they are seen as more serious than they really are.

But going back to the subject, their rules are a lot looser than the Oscars are. If MONSOON WEDDING was eligible for a Golden Globe, that shouldn't dictate anything other than the fact it was eligible for a Golden Globe.

Another goal for Beckham

May 06, 2003 16:56 IST

Gurinder Chadha's hit Bend It Like Beckham (Parminder Nagra, Keira Knightley, Jonathan Rhys-Myers) crossed an important milestone when it ranked among the top 10 movies at the US box office, with ticket sales estimated at $1.46 million over the weekend.

It occupied the ninth spot between It Runs In the Family (Kirk Douglas, Michael Douglas) and Bulletproof Monk (Chow-Yun Fat, Sean William Scott). The film's performance was much better than what its figures ($10.9 million) indicated, since it is only playing in 484 locations. The remaining movies in the top10 list are screening in 1,000 theatres each.

The distributor added 63 new theaters to run over the weekend and will expand to more than 500 sites on May 9.

Bend It Like Beckham, which opened in the US on March 12, has been screened in a combination of art-house cinemas and commercial multiplexes. Its gross, at nearly $11 million, makes it 2003's highest-grossing limited release film.

"Better Luck Tomorrow" will probably give BILB a run for its money in the competition between limited releases.

Additionally, disregarding your ignorance regarding the reliability of IMDB (considering that users submit information, and so it cannot be cross-checked) I urge you to look further down IMDB's own page for Monsoon Wedding, http://us.imdb.com/Title?0265343 where it lists the country the movie is from as: India / USA / France / Italy . Italy? Yes, Italy.

1. IMDb is quite reliable. The percentage of errors is
small. Due to its size there are nonetheless thousands
of errors. The user submitted data is checked like other
data. Some errors will slip in. Many errors are fixed
each week. The longer the data is in the database the
less errors it has.
2. The country Italy is mentioned because some of the
financing came from an Italian company. The location
has nothing to do with it.

Beckham best-paid player in the world: Reports
http://sify.com/sports/football/fullsto ... 777&vsv=46

Paris: Manchester United midfielder David Beckham is the best-paid player in the world with annual wages estimated at 15 million euros ($17 million), France Football reported in a survey published on Tuesday.

Looks loike, BILB BO collections have already crossed Mr Bekham's income for one year.
