I am really anxious to see Bhoot. And according to all sources, the film is set to release this coming friday. Any of you torontonians know if Woodside(or even Albion) cinemas will show this film? Even after a dread-ful 4-5 months of pure b.s. bollywood movies coming out every friday?

"I got to see THE HERO today.
The sound in the theatre was amazing. So much better than seeing it on DVD.
DEVDAS was the only other Bollywood film I have seen on a big screen. In all honesty, I enjoyed THE HERO a lot more.
Unfortunately, there were only two others in the theatre so I don't know how well it will do here in the US. But, it was very entertaining."

With this kind of attendance record, I'm not surprised that the distributors bypass the theatres and make money from direct DVD releases. First pirate versions and then official versions. There is no risk in DVD sales, where as they loose big time paying theatre rentals. Attendance of 3 for a theatre costing over $500 in theatre rental. Enough people are just not interested in watching movies in theatres, I guess.

Chances are that Bhoot will not release ANYWHERE this coming friday. I assume it's all because of this strike that's going on in India. And if you think about it, last week - there were suppose to be two film releases, but no websites on the net reviewed them. So...? this is really the depression era of Bollywood right now :ffs:

About that HERO showing, there was also no advertising for it, no reviews in the paper, no nothing. Just a small ad in the paper one day that if you didn't read this forum or other similar sites, you wouldn't know a thing about it.

When DEVDAS played last year, I didn't even know it opened until I drove by a theatre and saw it on a marquee.

If they tried some advertising, got local papers to review it or write an article about it, they might get more people to show up. But, to open a movie that 99.9999% of the local population has never heard of with no advertising, no one is likely to show up.

I live in suburban Massachusetts, without a large Indian population, so the fact that they opened here at all is a shock. I think they must have a deal with the National Amusements chain of theatres.

I would rather see it on the big screen than DVD.

You know it eh!
It's too bad the Matrix sequal isn't releasing for another few weeks, otherwise, I'd be hyped for that this weekend.
