Hi everyone,

I was shocked to open the paper this morning and see that THE HERO is opening at my local mall multiplex!!! What is going on here??? Why is this opening at a mall in suburban Massachusetts? There is a very small ad for it in the paper, I almost missed it.

This is great news. I was waiting for the DVD and now I get to see it on the big screen!!

Is this going on elsewhere? It is a National Amusements theatre, the biggest chain in New England.

I hope this gets to be popular.

I got to see THE HERO today.

First, there is nothing like seeing a film like this on the big screen. The sound in the theatre was amazing. So much better than seeing it on DVD.

I really enjoyed it. It was a lot of fun. There were several terrific music numbers.

Sure, some of the action scenes were a little over the top, but I was having so much fun I didn't care. Very fast paced, kind of like a James Bond film.

DEVDAS was the only other Bollywood film I have seen on a big screen. In all honesty, I enjoyed THE HERO a lot more.

Unfortunately, there were only two others in the theatre so I don't know how well it will do here in the US. Of course, there was no advertising. Most people out there have never even heard of it.

But, it was very entertaining.

If you thought Hero sounded and looked good in the cinema, you should have seen films like Mission Kashmir, Lagaan, Company or any Ram Gopal Varma film for that matter in DTS or Dolby Digital.

Hero looks like a pre-school stage sketch in comparison.

Most pre-schoolers enjoy Teletubbies more than Fellini's 8 1/2. :p

It probably would, but none of those films (even LAGAAN) got a local theatrical release in my area. I had to see them all on DVD.

As for DEVDAS, the print that played theatrically here was very scratchy. And the music in it I found to be rather forgettable. I realize it has a lot of fans, but it didn't work for me.

THE HERO sure is a very lightweight film. The equivalent of a summer blockbuster, but it was a lot of fun.
