India Weekly's $2.99 sale over the last few days is so cool. I was wondering if any of you have the foll DVDs and whats your experience with them :

1. Mera Saya
2. Teesri Kasam (Raj/Waheeda)
3. Nagina
4. Rangeela (DEI)
5. Tarzan (Kimi Katkar/Hemant Birje)

I know that its a risk getting nagina as its BOMBINO but I love this movie. And what about that CLASSIC of the 80s 'Tarzan'. I LOVED This film, you know. Anyone else seen it?

By the way, IW had some real gems for sale yesterday like 'Deewana' DEI for $2.99 but that ones sold out. Heres the link :

Teesri Kasam is from Sky and Mera Saaya is from Bombino. Avoid any DVDs from both of these companies, unless you are desperate, or a masochist! :) Buy Rangeela before it is sold out, yaar!

Tarzan the shittiest of all shits. Classic Baba " digital" transfer from VHS. Teesri Kasam transfer is o k probably done by shemaroo but the media used is cheap and prone to freezing. :D

I just got my Rangeela DVD from IW. It is the BEI version. While it is anamorphic WS, I was a little disappointed with the PQ and sound. The print looks "washed out" in places while the sound is definitely not 5.1 quality: most of the action is front-centric, with a tinny "echoey" bleed into the rears.

My experience is far different from the RANGEELA DEI review posted on zulm.net. I would give 7/10 on PQ and 6/10 for sound that is advertised as 5.1.

I thought BEI and DEI were pretty much the same company, i.e. BEI rising from the ashes of DEI. Has BEI remastered RANGEELA or something? The disc I got physically looks the same as the DEI version except for the BEI logo: the main menu, song menu, chapter selection screens, etc. are all identical to the DEI. In fact the background music on the main menu screen sounds fuller and more vibrant than the actual soundtrack.

I'm hoping for someone to respond who has BEI and/or DEI versions and validate or argue my observations. I was really hoping for quality 5.1 sound which I find lacking. Is it too late to try to find the original DEI version?

Thanks for any feedback.

You got the right version. The sound isn't as dynamic because I believe DEI remastered a 5.1 track for the film. Knowing that, they did a damn good job of it, compared to the "remastering" some other companies do. I thought the picture was fine, the washed out look was due to the way it was shot.
