BTW, if any one has got EROS's second version of Mann, you may start using it as a coaster. Bhaagte Chor Ki Langoti.

Which of those covers is the anamorphic progressive version? Perhaps the legitimate disc of that version is progressive and stretched vertically, but doesn't have the flag for 4:3 downconversion.

Ali's post clearly indicates the 2nd pic as the second version which also is 2.35:1 anamorphic and interlaced (Avoid this version). Perhaps, EROS's first release is Progressive. It is not anamorphic, though.

Oops, I thought that those Mann screenshots were stretched. Instead, they are cropped. D'oh! :oo:

At first I thought that those Mann screenshots were OAR and 16:9 enhanced, but stretched up to 4:3. Then I squashed some of them down to 16:9 using Photoshop, and I thought they looked okay. Then I thought they were squashed down too much. Now I am not so sure!

Sorry, DragunR2, you got involved too much in MANN shots. Actually there is nothing wrong in these shots. WRONG is the EROS's 2nd Anamorphic 2.35:1 release. Those screen caps aren't here.

The reason for me, bringing this topic again was to find the source of MANN included in the this 2 in 1 DVD. I guess, this version in 2 in 1 is copied/ replicated from EROS's first released version. If so, my first choice to replace my Anamorphic 2.35:1 interlaced crap will be the original version. If that's not avail, I will get this 2 in 1 version. At least it is Progressive, plus ---??.

So the Mann shots shown here are progressive, but cropped? And they're not stretched vertically? My crude calculations (involving cropping the black space on the top and sides away and dividing width by height) resulted in a 1.7818181818.... aspect ratio, if anyone wants to know.

Sorry DragunR2, I don't think these screen caps are cropped from the sides that you are assuming. Looks like, you are pre-assuming that 2.35:1 is the OAR and 1.85:1 print is made by cropping the sides of the 2.35:1 print.

Actually, EROS's Anamorphic 2.35:1 print is the result of Matting, mostly at the top, of the 1.85:1 print. Try it and see how weird shots you get. That is how bad EROS's Mann anamorphic DVD is.

BTW,
Is cutting pic from sides called cropping??
and
Cutting pic from top and bottom called Matteing??

Then perhaps Eros f-ed up and made a faux 2.35:1 from the already cropped 1.85:1 transfer.

That is usually correct, because cutting picture from top and bottom is a widely used method of creating a widescreen image, wherease when picture is cut from the sides, it is usually not intended.

I am taking this discussion topic to the Different Aspect Ratio Versions thread.
