I thought this years ceremony was really amazing and I thought all the winners were very well deserved.

For the best actor, Shahrukh did a great job in presenting the internal pain that Devdas went through and was one of the tougher roles he had to do. I am happy that both him and Ajay Devgan took home the trophies for best actor (popular and critics respectively) because IMO nobody made more of a bigger splash this year than both of them.

Best Actress, Best Film and Best Director were no surprise. However, I was counting on seeing who won the Critics Awards for Film and Actress and they too didn't disappoint. I was glad that after being snubbed in the popular nominations that TLOBS won the critics best film. Ditto for Rani Mukherjee and Manisha Koirala, although some would have said Karisma for Shakti.

Actually Manisha Koirala's award really surprised me because in no other awards ceremonies was she even nominated for her role in Company. I am glad to see a talented actress like her get the award. Personally I was cheering for Rani to take it.

Speaking of Saathiya a VERY BIG Mubaraki to A.R. Rahman who really deserved a trophy for his work. While I would have hoped for a tie (Rahman and Darbar) I am truly happy that Rahman was appreciated for his work. Saathiya truly was a gem when it came to music. Rahman I can honestly say is now in the ranks of Amitabh and Lata ji when being called LEGENDS of the industry.

My favorite song of 2002, the title song of Saathiya, also won many awards including Gulzar's best lyricist award and best male playback singer for Sonu Nigam. Again VERY WELL DESERVED.

Best Female Playback Singers in my opinion I thought Kavita deserved the award alone for Maar Dala, but I am happy to see her take a trophy along with Shreya Ghoshal. What a year for her!

However, good films from 2002 like Raaz, Humraaz, Kaante and Aankhen were all ignored in the evening. I would have given best story to Aankhen but then again I'm not the jury!

The only awards I would really change is Best Villain and Best Female Newcomer. I would have included Akshaye Khanna in there for Humraaz as well as with Ajay Devgan. Both of them did a fantastic job! For Female Newcomer, NO winner would have been a better choice, or give it to Malini Sharma for Raaz. Esha Deol won it simply because she's a star daughter.

I saw it last night, what can I say...I didn't enjoy it as much as it was hyped up, the Zee Cine awards were more exiting. Saif Ali Khan at first was a surprise but became annoying and not that funny as he was trying to be. They should just stick to one person presenting, but I suppose they had to get someone else to announce when SRK had won (i think he knew before hand).

Ajay Devgan won both awards for critcs award best actor, I'm glad LOBS was recognised by critics as the best film.

Malini Sharma looked old with that grey hair dye, and choice of clothing, she looked like she could be someones mother! Bad choice Malini!

One thing that can clearly be noticed is that Shah Rukh and Sanjay Leena Bhansali were both visibly VERY UPSET that Devdas didn't get through to the Oscars, they're still suffering from the kickback. :D Sanjay didn't even say a speech for the 1st award picked up and totally looked disinterested, and Shah Rukh even said something regarding the Oscars along the lines of "those idiots" and at the end he looks like he was about to cry when he won best actor for Devdas. The only one from the devdas crew who was genuinely happy was Aishwarya.

Does anyone know if the national awards are ever televised and on which channel?

The awards were hyped up too much. Sony really have no clues as to scheduling programmes. I had just about got into the serial Devi and suddenly they put this batty film awards show on.

The whole show was like a Eros DVD......an utter pile of pants. Shah Rukh was utter sh^ite when he tried to tell jokes. Rekha stood on stage with a big list of names she wanted to thank and read every name.

For some reason Esha Deol got a newcomers award even though her acting is no better than what my hand puppet does when I have had 500 pints of Tetleys Bitter.

They had some silly cow doing that hot hot hot song from Bend it like Batty Beckham film.

Shilpy Shetty came on to perform a number and looked like a charachter from Austin Powers with her awful outfit.

Vivek Obaroi came on to perform and was dressed in leather.....looked the total opposite of kewl........ummmmmm di$£$ head springs to mind.

Overall the worst film awards I have seen.

No great moments. Just a lot of brown nosing.

Good job Bo Selecta was on channel 4 (UK) so I switched off and watched him take pi$$ out of Jacko. This was far more enjoyable than watching the batty awards show on Sony.

Yeah, but did you notice there was a certain someone who 'helped her' quite a bit in her career, who was in most of the clips shown, who she made a realistic on-screen (and off-screen) couple, who was sitting in the audience with his family, and you know what SHE DIDN'T MENTION HIM!
I'm sure everyone there noticed and were quite shocked, the fact that he wasn't mentioned was probably a big insult! Done with intent of course, just how could you not mention Mr...

Well can fellow zulmi's guess who it was?

Its all rumours. Mr Bachan would never do that type of thing.

Did you notice how Mr Bachan looked totally bored with the whole ceremony.

I suppose when you have done it and seen it so many times and some twat is on stage trying to tell jokes and act as if he is the Indian Graham Norton you get bored very quickly.

Does anyone know Rekha's Husband's name...was it Vinod Mehra? I hear she stressed her husband out so much he killed himself to just escape her!
She was a dominatix! And he was a soft 'weak' man.

Vinod Mehra was not married to Rekha at the time of his death. Vinod Mehra died of heart attack and the rumour is that it was due to high stresses in the making of his last movie (forgot the nanme but is on DEI DVD) which was completed and released by some one else.

Mukesh (a big businessman) married Rekha (against his family's wishes) later and did commit sucide within few days after the wedding.
