Well, the film looks kind of nice, and I'd see it if I was bored!

Khiladi, I'd rather see Sunny with Preity and Priyanka rather than them with Govinda!

Pakistani films are moving up the ladder, i just saw a recent pakistani film, the pic quality, sound, music and acting has all improved, also they put the effort into producing realistic special fx during a gun fight, and the babes in pakistani films are hot ones, Lollywood just needs a little more recognition outside of pakistan.

You have any idea how much money Pakistanis make from Indian movies? The industry doesn't make a penny from such piracy, hence they are not catering to this audience. Granted, the gratuitous and opportunistic jingoism in these 'patriotic' movies is in bad taste. Lollywood does the same, but it does not get noticed as much. I couldn't even find Maula Jatt in any Pakistani store in Toronto. I gave up and had a friend of mine pick it up for me in Pakistan on VCD.

Hmmmmm Censorship galore ! :D

Captainamerica I am not following that thread on the retailer thread. This one is more interesting... I still "fondly" remember the days of GADAR and the "expletives" we used to have those days :D

Maybe its time to refresh myself with all those stuff... 'cos I am certain this film will, afterall, be a rehash of Gadar..but in a different era

*ps :- Likhne wala ya Chalane wala Pen :D :D ???

Those were the good old days! I remember predicting fireworks when a hint of this first appeared and that you and Ali would be in the thick of things. Our Ali must getting on in years, seems he lost his appetite. Know what they say "you can't put good things in bad stomach" :D

CA... no to sound condescending or sarsatic (I leave that to a select few here), but this site.. is the best and Ali & his work here is indeed commendable.. I hardly post here these days, but it sure makes for enjoyable reading when I skim through the posts here. As for fireworks... well you have urself predicted the results... so I dont see any point adding anything else to that :).. I think a new breed of folks have appeared here so would like to see how they react here. Sometimes I feel very tempted to post a few stuff here (esp abt a points which some folks have raised.. but I back off.... waste of time... ) I would rather post my views on image quality than...you-know-what... !
But rest assured... let The Hero release..and we shall see what happens then :D

If this movie isnt so biased, then it may be entertaining. But being a sunny deol film its to be way to biased, gets really anoying and boring.
This guy is letting all his frustration out into a few shit movies, he thinks will make him more fans.

Bollycolonization

Farrukh Khan Pitafi
The Indian film industry is perhaps called Bollywood because the country's own name starts with a 'B'. Whereas the Pakistani film industry was pejoratively called Lollywood perhaps due to lack of quality and third rate Xerox copies of the Indian movies. Quite interestingly our point of strength in the best times was the small screen of TV and not the golden screen. However even then we have not been spared of the Lollywoodization of Pakistani television and also adopted this embarrassing name for our industry. Consistent decline in the quality has rendered is vital entertainment industry a role model of social decay and the corrosive forces like ostentation and consumerism.
The story does not end here. Since an under developing society can further fall by over dependence on the consumerist culture it over does it at the cost of its own long term interests. Pakistani economy today is burdened by the high cost of the Indian films bought and circulated in the country. While several people may display lack of interest in the Bollywood films it remains a fact that the Indian films are truly seen widely throughout the country. This becomes a bit complicated issue because one of the most consumed item of the entertainment industry in Pakistan essentially is internalized also rather more so by the poor school children who have to read also the syllabus books too in school in which they are most often told that their worst enemy is India. Just see the stratification of disaster in Pakistan.
After the ban of the Indian channels in Pakistan and hence removal of the most important moderating valve from the Indian media interest we have reverted back to the world of VCR and VCD shops, that quite contrary to the Indian television channels that could be shown by editing the programs through a cable operator, cannot be stopped from spreading harmful propaganda material in the society. Any guess where this may lead our society? Very hard to say indeed.
Infact, the most important feature of the entertainment industry is that it is the industry for the poor. It distributes dreams in people that are most often found dying under the weight of the circumstances. Now when our own industry fails to cater to the needs of its own people how can we expect them not to resort to the foreign stuff?
The issue of contradictions in this field cannot be overlooked for long as the internal degeneracy has rendered the entire system cancerous. In Pakistan a few film production houses are blamed to be operating like brothels where liquor and prostitution both are offered to their customers. On the other hand even in PTV where we had better culture and creative notions has been taken hostage by Iffat Omars and other such headless monsters who do not comprehend that the industry cannot exclusively be run by glamour without concrete stories and excellent performance. Mujra, mujra and mujra. I was astonished to see how the proverbial song 'Lal meri pat rakhion bala' was included in the forms of mujra on a TV show. This whole psyche of 'Lollywood' type is constructed by those who think that the only operating principle in the world is lust and not love. How irritating. Even in India, most often referred to 'Parosi Mulk' with a deep sigh on TV, the movies that hold excellent box office records are the ones emphasizing family values and not the Mujra culture. Unfortunately again I got a chance to see a few TV promos of Pakistani movies. A movie by a Faheem Burney shocked me for all the major visual stints have been copied from the Indian cinema. Where is our own creativity?

I think the pakistani film industry are attempting to strike back :D

Their most expensive film ever made will be their 'answer' to Gadar. It's about a Sikh girl from India who falls for a Muslim guy from Pakistan. It was funded by the same people who funded "Ek Chhotisi love Story", whose mission is to make controversial films.

Even though it hasn't been relased yet, it's already caused a ruckus with the Sikh community as you can see in the guestbook. Some people can get so carried away with anger...it's only a film!

I think that Pakistani film is crap. Wot kind of sense does it make to have a Rs. 7 crore (the most expensive budget) film that is just trying to ride off of the success of the decade's biggest hit so far? I think it's unecessary.
