I have a 9 inch CRT. It makes the best pictures in the world. :bash:
It depends on your budget what I would recommend.
An second hand 7 inch CRT can he had for little and makes
a good picture in a dark room. The new DLPs with HD2 chips
are also quite nice, but costs >= several 1000 $s.
cheers
Michel

CRT projector gives best picture in the world. This is so true and I can't dispute that statement.
A used CRT projector can be had for around US $2500.
But what's the catch? It is practically very difficult to manage a CRT projector. I won't list all the things that can go wrong with a CRT and especially with a Used CRT. But for a new CRT you are looking at least $25,000.

With a fraction of that amount you can have new DLP or LCD projector with almost 90% of the image quality.

I know at least 8 people out of 10 in my area, who are using a DLP or LCD projector after tried and tired with CRT.
As for me I am using a DLP for the last 2 years and very happy with. Yes, There are times I thought about How a CRT could makes the image looks more solid with better blacks than my DLP. But I never ever am willing to switch to a CRT from the comfort of this little DLP machine.

Avsforum.com is the best place to know all about the projectors.

But remember every thing has its limitations and inherent problems. I recommend trying them before you decide to buy.

I thought CRT = Cathode Ray Tube. If this is the case, then how can it be projection also?

Right CRT is Cathode Ray Tube. CRT projector means CRT is used as a basic technology. Just like in RPTVs (Rear Projection TV) where 3 CRTs are used (RGB) and they are used to project on the screen. DLP and LCD are more recent technologies.
Chek out SPOT they have review on two front projection systems.
And yes front projectors systems are the best way to view DVD movies but make sure have GOOD dvds and those low quality bootlegs
:)

I have a SE13HD LCD projector which is native 16.9 & 120" wide screen. After a while I got used to the blacks and now watching DVD's is great except for the Indian DVD's which leave a lot to be desired. But I think front pj's the way to go. Only thing to watch is the replacement cost of the lamp and it's life.
