***** DIL KA RISHTA bhi SO SO! JISM ka riahta bhi Dismissed!
ooops!!

http://rediff.com/entertai/2003/jan/17dil.htm

The former Miss World captivates audiences with her beauty. Does she also hold their attention with her acting?

A sore point is the constant focus on her wardrobe and looks, not performance. She also refers to her previous films to emote. When flustered by husband Raj's (Priyanshu Chatterjee) teasing, she reminds you of Nandini (Hum Dil Chuke Hai Sanam). When she pines for Jai's (Arjun Rampal) love, she reminds you of Paro yearning for Devdas.

That Ash is a director's actress is established with this film. Naresh Malhotra is no Sanjay Leela Bhansali. The result? Dil Ka Rishta leaves much to be desired.

Arjun Rampal shakes off his wooden image and comes up with a good performance. He is subtle and convincing in the emotional scenes. He has certainly moved on from Pyaar Ishq Aur Mohabbat.

Raakhee and Paresh Rawal, as Ash's mother and Arjun's father respectively, do justice to their roles, though Rawal is largely wasted.

The film's pace and songs help build the narrative, though Nadeem Shravan's score is definitely not a strong point.

So who is it to be: Ash or Bipasha? I'd reserve judgement on that one until I watch Jism!

Taran ka DEDH(1.5)Sitara!! Ek Aish ka, AAdha, Rampal ka! ha ha!

On the whole, DIL KA RISHTA stands on a weak foundation – a predictable script – which will tell on its business in days to come.

Rating:- * ½.

Komal pundit also, dismissed this rishta:

On the whole, Dil Ka Rishta fails to appeal to the dil and, therefore, its rishta with the box-office will rest on a shaky foundation. Considering its dull start at most places, it will not be able to even touch the average mark despite some appeal for ladies. Its failure will underline the importance of the grammar of screenplay-writing.

DIL KA RISHTA - (Reviewed By Komal Nahta)

Director: Naresh Malhotra
Music: Nadeem-Shravan
Lyrics: Sameer
Producer: Shabbir Boxwala, Aditya Rai
Starring: Aishwariya Rai, Arjun Rampal, Priyanshu, and Rakhee

RATING: 1.5/10

Indolink, calling it PASSABLE just because of Ash:

Thankfully, production values are quite good. Ashok Mehta’s cinematography is superb, as usual. In fact Mr. Mehta achieves more in the way of establishing atmosphere and meaning through his carefully calculated shots and camera work than the director. Background music worked and production design and other technical work was sound as well. Dil Ka Rishta’s one great aspect – Aishwarya – uplifts the film from the “pass” category. This is far from award-grabbing, critically acclaimed cinema – but it is also a safe distance from the awful Bollywood drivel we have become all too familiar with. Worth a watch, if only for Aishwarya’s acting and dancing; but proceed with caution (and your finger on the fast forward button).
